Not exactly sure if this would be the section for this question but I was curious what were people's thoughts on oil pans? Are the aftermarket oil pans worth the money? Does it really make much of a difference? I'm sure it does for built up engines but my car is a daily driver 318 that I work...

So my car is making a funny sound at lower rpms while driving. My dad thinks it is pinging. I do not know what pinging sounds like so I do not know. Is this more of a timing issue?? thanks
