Someone with a whole lot more experience and time than me should do a study/testing of wet vs dry, Carter vs Edelbrock vs Holley, 500 vs 600 vs 650 vs 750,... etc. Maybe it's been done and I'm just not aware of it? Probably deserves a thread of its own. Anyone?

The Carter and Edelbrock are dry flowed. I flow tested a 600 cfm AFB and it did just about dead bugs on exactly that. Holley, as I understand it, wet flows there carbs. Is there a difference somewhere in this? IDK

I have dabbled with all of them and am confident I can get a good tune (AFR meters are your friend!) with whichever I choose but, if not, I know there is a wealth of knowledge here to help me sort it out.

Long tube headers or not, the sound issue is ‘t due to headers. It’s the sound coming down the pipe, what escapes the muffler casing and what bounces back out of the muffler back up towards the engine. So yes, you are of help! Nice pictures.

I dunno yet. There are many variables such as: Will the local track be open and for how much longer; What is the weather like; Where do we choose to go in it; etc. I'm in the Pacific NW and don't plan on going to MATS or the Nationals with it; maybe a 50 mi radius?

Okay, I just installed my new repro plug wires. All went well. The bottom two terminals of the distributor cap took the angled wires, just like everybody said. Looks very clean and spiffy now. Thanks for all the input - even the snarky ones!
