    piston questions

What I've learned about 5.9 Magnums from the two I built and one helped spec: Ported heads/cleaned chambers definitely help 3500 RPM and up, help efficiency, and reduce detonation tendencies. No need for new cams. A regrind works just fine. One cam 204/210 112°LSA 110° ICL butter...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

So, I am not quite as sad as you here may think that I am. In fact, I am quite happy that I no longer have a thorn in my side to hinder my way. I have met someone here, who is hard-working, has a good heart, has her own business, has her own money, does not want or need money from anybody. Here...

Good morning everyone. Back to work again. Semi retirement was nice. I got lots done on the car, so that makes me happy. Have it mentioned winters are wearing on me?

    Door Emblem R&R

Good Morning I had thought of drilling/taping, 'push' nuts/JB weld or one of the newer 3M adhesives, or a combination. Not planning on taking them off again. Just looking for ideas as I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has dealt with this situtation. In the worst case senerio, how did...

No. Nothing like that. It’s not bad really. Just want it smoother. I see a smaller cam in my future. :)

Here is a picture for you. As prices go for the HDK (That I follow and learned a lot from)versus doing a 73 K frame set up with all the goodies in my new project 73 Duster with 6.4 Gen 3 Hemi. The Parts end up just as much if not a little more than the HDK set up. I follow 72bluNblu and leaned...

    Are dart sports mostly gone

I has a 76 dart sport with a slant which I daily drove for a couple of years in the 80s. Then I got a wrecked L code 360 4 gear. It had buckets and a factory dual snorkel. I still have it but it is rusted all to hell. Kim

That gets you the 226 number above at .050 of tappet lift. It's not the moment the tappet lifts. zero out the indicator when the lifter is on the base circle, get it to .050 lift, then look at the reading on the wheel. Should be at 6 BTDC on the way up and 40 ABDC on the way down and hit...

my apologies on how I described it in the first post. And please bear with me on my next question. When you say “6 and 40” , are you meaning the moment of lifter lift to open valve and the moment of lifter stopping or valve closed added to 180 which will equal 226 duration?

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

Motor's in: Pretty sure that engine bay has been empty since 1984. Also been awhile since I flew solo on an engine drop but hell yeah I still got it :D Sits higher than I thought it would even tho the mounts are all the way down in the frame so I'll be looking for a low profile air cleaner...

The flange is less then a 1/4 inch from the floorboard. The Dougs headers are very small. My primer tubes I bet are almost the size of you exhaust pipes. My headers are 2 1/4 with 4 1/2 collector. The car was built to have 70’s style look, with rear tire size 390/45R15 but when I get over...

If you had mentioned using max lift clearly in the first post, things go different. The .050 value is used plenty to get ICL. Tappet lift off base, either side of max lift. Even after doing that method, it's a good idea to go back and check the tappet lift numbers, in this case the 6 and 40...
