I did mine myself. Carefully peeled the correct end off a wire from a spare harness and soldered it to a new wire.

Also nice to know how a story ends.

Yeah, I had to drop the countershaft out first when I did mine. Putting it back together was a real riot.

It was my understanding the numbers on a Barracuda speedo are oriented around the circle and the Duster rallye dash have the numbers oriented horizontally.

I picked up a Molotow Liquid Chrome pen for scale modeling and found the experience to be hit or miss. It has a bad habit of the tip either drying up and not replenishing or coming out in an irritating blob. I'd certainly try it if I needed to but I'd be super careful.
