Number 3
After a head gasket change a deep gash was found in cylinder 8 from a broken wrist pin keeper which allowed the wrist pin to ride on the cylinder and a rebuild was in order.
A quality rebuild including a 30 overboard and stainless steel valves included in the Xhead rebuild .

Not sure what my goal was but I start to believe that these rods don't fit any of my goals. One thought was to replace the LY rods in a 69.5 six pack but I soon realized that the gain would never be worth the money spent on balancing.
idles like stock with just a hint of lope, awesome vacuum, lots more midrange. It is just a stock 318 with an old holley street dominator intake and an Eddy 600 carb, but runs very strong
Yes they were so very light it was like the difference between a quarter and a dime with chromoly. Kind of sketchy I guess but I will tell you that thing would wind.
It's been years since I've heard of aluminum retainers. But I'm willing to bet that either build with the 4.10s and a four speed had explosive mid range power. RIP, Crane Cams. I wish we could buy parts of that quality again.
Idk measured and it's 4" from bottom to bottom of the seat area. Read that should be RB. Like I said in add I think it's for raise big block. Any insight would be welcome. Thanks
Here's my set up. It is a 3 row radiator and the water pump is the aluminum type, and a big block fan with the factory clutch. The thermostat is a 165. I runs about 185* in the summer time. Here is a picture.
