    Off-season engine freshen

I typically go around 400-500 runs before I "freshen" up my engines. I always tried to do it during the off season. A freshen up for me is usually includes new rod and main bearings and gaskets as long as everything looks okay. When I used to race weekly from April-Oct that would be about every...

    Engine diaper question

I don't have that oil pan but I have a Russler diaper on my car. He can pretty much make anything given the oil pan specs. Engine Diapers for Sportsmen Racers - Russler II

What's on your "to do" list for this winter on your race car?

Didn't get out much in 2024 so just change the oil and go over the rocker arms in the spring and I should be good to go for 2025.

Anyone Using Starting Line Enhancer on A-Body?

I had one on my car for a little over a year while I tried top bulb racing before I came to the conclusion I have 2 feet for a reason. With that said I used the Biondo starting line one. I used my stock throttle cable. What I did was use a piece of angle iron and bolted it to the startling line...

    shifter

Anyone using a Turbo Action Cheetah shifter with a forward pattern and using air to have it shift? Does it shift the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts? Can you post a picture of your setup. Thanks.

Killed another cam, need to go roller, need recommendations

I've tried 2 lunati solid flat tappet in the past. Both didn't last very long. I mainly use mopar performance cams when they used to be available, but since they aren't I've gotten a Comp and a Racer Brown cam and so far they have been fine.

    electronic ignition box mounting bracket

When I bought my 1969 Plymouth Barracuda it had been updated to electronic ignition. It has a bracket that mounted to the wiper motor studs to mount the ignition box. After redoing the car I mounted the box in a different location and no longer need the bracket. Is this bracket a...

    Trans Shield/Scattershield Options/Alternatives

I ran a blanket for a few years and it worked fine. (440 in a 75 duster) Had to make something to make it clear/stay off the cable linkage. I bought a CSR shield when they were readily available probably 10 years ago. Had to beat the firewall/floor pan lip flat and also drill holes to access...

[SOLD] Toyo front drag tires 26x4.5-15

2 used Toyo 26x4.5-15 front drag tires. Were used for a handful of years and removed from the car around 2013/2014 as I went to a different size tire. Have been stored indoors since. Are dirty/dusty from storage. Would be good for mock up or for show car, can't say I'd personally use them on...

    How To Measure Fuel Volume.

The bucket test will be the easiest. A holley blue pump is rated at 110 gph, Flows 88 GPH at 9 psi, so at 6-7 psi I'd think you'd want a little more than a gallon a minute as 9 psi is 1.46 gallons (88 pgh/60 mins = 1.46). I honestly don't think fuel is your issue. Can you provide more specs...

Do radial slicks hook better in the heat than bias?

I've never personally ran radials, but my observation of others is they can be less forgiving than a bias slick. There are guys out there who's cars flat out work with the radials, but I think it's the guys that have their suspension/shocks combos on point. Most of the guys I see that do well...

Going to be an interesting week. Lots of decisions to be made.

Just seen a post on Facebook about the race at Keystone this weekend. I don't know Michael personally but know of him and he seems like a good guy, not sure why this race didn't attract racers at $400 entry for a 10K/20K/10K. Unfortunately, we have an extremely low turnout today. While R/U...

    727 Help Please

Check lugs on front pump, I had them sheer off before, but that pump had 25 or so years of hard drag racing on it before that.

Going to be an interesting week. Lots of decisions to be made.

That's the one part of my outside woodstove that I enjoy so much. All of our trash goes in it year round to heat our house and hot water so I don't have a pile of boxes laying around, other than the large stash I keep for when I sell stuff to ship.

Sitting here watching racing and thinking about how crazy this game has gotten

I've never been a fan of buybacks but I understand it why they have them. I've been racing since 95 and I can count on 1 hand how many times I have doubled enter and I bet I have bought back less than a dz times as well. I keep thinking about trying a big money race some day, but like you said...

Contest time! Guess the ET and MPH to win!

The bigger question is why is the car picking up so much? You started day at 10.68 and ended at 10.50. That's almost 2 tenths. Did the weather/wind change that much, traction issue?

Friend’s motorhome caught fire on the way home from keystone

In a situation like that maybe pull the pin from the receiver, unhook the 2 chains and pull it away, don't worry about the trailer plug or the breakaway cable, just get it away as quick as possible.

How old are you and how long have you raced

I'm 37, but started racing in 1995 when I was 8 in Jr dragsters. From 1995-2017 I pretty much raced every weekend from March-Oct, never missed a points race etc. Wife and I decided to scale back in 2018 as we had some major home renovations we wanted to do ourselves to help with cost. Since...

How do those temps look for a 4 day race weekend

Gonna be hot and miserable. If you do well the heat won't be so bad, if you don't, than sit in the AC and complain how stupid hot it is and be glad you don't have to get back in the car.
