The picture with the red circle is the tanks that they’ve been making aftermarket for years. The other one is the new tooling made as original tanks. They have the correct bottom from 68 to 76
Yeah I’m not sure why. Actually Scott Smith from harms carburetors and I talk to Jim ( I believe) at 521 restoration to get him to make the correct bottoms of the fuel tanks. I tried to get him to make the 70 tank but he did not want to make the one your only tank. I tried talking to spectrum...
There is no company that makes a real 1970 fuel tank. The one you have is a 68 -69 tank it moves the filler tube forward. I use a late 71 and up fuel tank with one nipple on it. 521 registrations are ending selling of their spectrum tanks and only going to sell the ones they manufacture with the...
This is real easy. No one makes a real 1970 gas tank. You have use a different year. Only 70 tank made is a California mission 70 and 71 that use the four nipples.
The only place that advertises the gas tanks correct. You don’t have to buy it from here. If you are doing a correct restoration they are the only place that make the bottom of the tanks correct, as you can see in the picture. No cross over indent for the strap in the 67 and earlier tanks.
Yes try calling them, they may send you the 72 tank. Just a heads up most places will disagree that the 68, 69 and tanks are the same and you don’t know what you’re talking about. You could tell them to pull the 70 tank and the 71 and up tank and take a look where the filler tube goes into the...

Take a look, they don’t even advertise a correct 70 gas tank. They advertise it with the nipple on the top of the tank which is a 71 and up tank.
No the AMD trunk floor pans are 70 - 73 and up design
Sell your 70 tank that you bought as a 69 - 69 tank because that what it is. It’s not a 70 tank. Like I said no one makes a 70 tank. It’s a one year only tank. Everyone one that sells gas tank advertises the 1970 gas tank wrong besides 521...
70 filler tube is ok. Just need 72 tank
The black tank is an original 70 tank. The silver tank is advertised as a 70 tank but actually is a 68-69 tank and you can see the filler tube area is closer to the front on the car. Which makes the tank almost impossible to go in. The trunk floors are...
1970 gas tanks are wrong. I been down this road before. They advertise the tank as a 68 through 70 but that’s incorrect. 1970 is actually a one year only tank. You need a 72 tank and plug the nipple on the top of the tank. The filler hole in the tank is in a different area.
There’s nothing wrong with it. Those are normal. I just ran into this a while ago trying to remember what the heck the difference was. Getting old. If you look in your 69 - 70 shop manual and look up rear brakes that’s how I figured it out.
They can supply any bezel that you want, with hazard switch without hazard switch area, thumb wheel or knob radio. If you really think about it, by time you buy a nice rallye bezel, restore it, restore all the gauges it’s not much more. Very cool
