Hi, after I had re-installed my timing cover, I started wondering how the timingchain gets lubrication? There's a shiny new plug installed just above the cam sprocket by the machine shop, is that supposed to be there?
THanks!

Has anyone added a timingchain tensioner when rebuilding a small block (273)? If so, I'm looking for information on what tensioner you used.
My chain has a horrible amount of slack, so will likely need replaced. I've heard the tensioner is a great little upgrade to the timingchain and is...
Hi everybody I'm new here so please bear with me. My 69 Dart 340 has a tiny pond on top of my timingchain cover. It looks as though somebody tried to tack a leak with a welding rod and didn't do a very good job so I wipe up the leak and paint comes along with it. I'm not concerned with the...
I was doing some reading a little bit ago on the 318's and it suggested that a "true " double roller timingchain be used. I have to admit that I'm confused here as I've always thought that the double roller timingchain were "true " double rollers. Also it said to use a cam as close to the 340...
Ok it's been quite sometime since I've put together an engine. (Over 20 years)
First the camshaft plate under the timing cover.
Mine has no slinger that I can find and 3 bolt holes, none of the three bolts have a hole for oil?
It does however have a small drip piece.
Also did Chrysler...
...replacement
And the oil pan gasket
While looking at the very clean I sides of the crank case I noticed what to me looks like a slack timingchain.
The bottom of the oil pan was clean, no sludge or other deposits, or chunks of mystery materials.
I filtered the oil I removed through a paint...
...the block incl: thrust plate + retaining bolts (incl the oil drip bolt); cam bolt, washer + fuel pump eccentric; oil slinger; and '70s timingchain cover. Would be awesome if someone had everything on the list rather than doing it piecemeal but beggars can't be choosers. Looking for good...
I know this has been covered a bit, but I thought I’d ask for 2024: What is a good brand for a low to medium performance build timing set. I have a 90k 360 that likely has a nylon gear and needs gaskets. I’m not talking race, I mean 95% street driven or a truck-like application? Edelbrock...
I have checked all the threads and bolts go threw them.Timing makes are on passengers side...Clean condition in that there are no repairs.Still has much of its original paint..Building a #`s show car.I can help.$95.Keene NH.US Postal money order only
I bought a new timingchain cover and I thought I had the right one as the timing marks lined up on the drivers side but as it turns out the new opening for the crank shaft is larger than the original, will it still work ? or am I better off getting another one that is the same size opening as...
...of a coolant leak between the timing cover and the block, otherwise I wouldn't be here. I was curious about the condition of the timingchain. This engine was bought from a Chrysler dealer, it came from an authorized rebuilder in Toronto (Ontario Reman) circa 1986 and I might have 10k miles...
3 Bolt timingchain set from 440 source with Torrington bearing. (Edited I actually have two of them for sale)
Dyno time only roller camshaft was too big probably has 1 hour of run time. The other one was also only used to break in the cam. Thought that I had sold this one. They look identical...
...a LOT from you guys but at the moment I am stumped. We're rebuilding the slant out of my girlfriend's 69 dart and decided to replace the timingchain set since it was decently worn out. I've done a few motors before such as the ford 302 and an LA 318, and the new timing sets always going on...
1964 dart with 273, had coolant leak after short drive looked for source of leak and seen crack in timingchain cover attached a pic you can see crack above fuel pump. My question, would this be the source Of leak? My thought was unless thread sealer is compromised it shouldn’t leak coolant...
I have an LA318 that has a tried timingchain in need of replacing. So now I'm looking for the best setup. I like the idea of the magnum setup with the chain guide, but I also like the like the idea of the double roller setup. But I don't know?
What's the best setup?
New Mopar small block timingchain tensioner. I bought many year ago and never used. Part number must have been torn off box. Tension spring needs to be reset as the pull pin popped . I did drill one addition bolt hole where the cam plate bolt would go. (bottom right hole) $50 shipped US
I have these three timing covers for the big block engines.
Any one that you want. $20.00 each.
The timingchain and gear set is from back in the later 1970's or early 1980 time frame from the old Direct Connection, factory parts catalog.
For the big block engines with the single cam bolt...
...a farm in a VERY VERY dirty environment. I have seen several blogs that say timing train valve noise is normal. Some blogs say the OEM timingchains in early-mid 90s timingchains are weak. Usually factory problems last only a year or two. What is the deal here with this noise in a 2001...

Anyone know if the Mancini Racing Timing cover will work with the 65 dart? the only difference I can tell is the timing gauge is molded in to the cover and the original was bolted on. Any info will be appreciated. My timing cover is corroded probably past repair.
