    Skinny Steelies?

Most Grand Marquis LTDs and Crown Vics 1980's box style cars had 15×4 spare donut in trunk with 5×4.5 lugs...just like Demonracer said....I remember them being alum though

    Donut spare

Planning to make my Duster a daily driver...currently has a 14" wheel and a very old 185/75 tire. I'm considering grabbing a Jeep donut as a spare (T125/90D16, from base-model XJ Cherokees, about 25"). Anyone done this? I see absolutely no reason this will not work.

    Skinny Steelies?

I think years ago, Hot Rod or PHR did an article about the donut spare wheels from an 80s or so T bird. They were supposedly 15 x 4 with a 4 1/2" pattern. I could be wrong, my memory ain't what it used to be. LOL

    Tailpipes with mini tub

The pipes look good on the outside of the rail. I raised my spare tire donut 2” which allowed room to keep the pipes tucked up tight and no visible donut hanging below the bumper.

...tow package used 3.73s. I think 4-cylinder/5-speed used 4.11 gears. There was little rhyme or reason except for ABS-the only way to know is to look underneath-though probably 90+% of Cherokee Limiteds had ABS. No tach or no tint probably means no ABS. The XJ donut spare will also fit your...

    K-Member / Rack & Pinion Steering Suggestions

aluminum engine....block and heads together are 265 lb lighter over cast. Battery / donut spare (ballast) in trunk. Front axle centerline moved forward 1-1/4" , rear axle moved forward 1-1/2", no roll bar, front tied to rear frame rails / 4-bar / back half.....a stocker.

Very cool! Lots of tricks there you don't catch by casually walking by. Is it manual steering too?

    Any Subaru fans?

As long it is the same diameter as the other 3 tires, or really close, the donut spares are fine. And they are the same diameter, just skinny.

...over 26” up front and you will have rubbing. So how do I do this spare thing right? I thought about it and these modern Mopars have donut spares in all kinds of sizes and a quick search yielded a great option, a 145/80R18 at 27.13”, definitely close enough for the rear height and narrow so...

    Any Subaru fans?

I dont think that is true I'll check when I get home, because now I am curious I DO know I got 2 sets of wheels for that car (all season and winter tires) So naturally I decided to grab one of the wheels not in use and toss it in trunk as a spare It would NOT fit in the spare tire well...

    My Dart Swinger Project!

Yep bought the whole front disc brake conversion from Dr. DIFF . Even got new upper controls arms and new spindles. It's should stop well with disc on all four corners. I got 11.75 disc up front and I believe the Rea ford is 11.2. So the pinion yoke above is what I need. I'd like a 1350 yoke...

    My Dart Swinger Project!

...Factory 318 car, isnt worth big bucks. Are you upgrading to 73 up disc brakes in the front? If so, look for a 2002 lincoln town car donut spare. It's an aluminum rim, is 25" diameter and about 4.5" thick. Fits nice and flat in the spare tire well. Will fit the mopar 73 up disc brakes in...

    Anyone using donut spares?

I found a donut spare in a 90-something Jeep, 5x4.5 pattern. It fits, but just barely in the Dart. Measure carefully, I had a hard time getting a 27" tire in a 27" well.

    Anyone using donut spares?

Anybody know of a donut spare for small bolt pattern? I bought a metric one awhile back off of a small dodge I think. It was close, but not close enough.

Spare tire question for 69 Dart

I'm presently wrestling with trying to figure out a solution for a spare tire/rim I can use front / rear and fits in tire well. This car has 18" x 8 " wide rims front , 19" x 10 " rear with ECI brake kit on the front . So far all I can find that will fit front/ rear wheels and fit in the spare...

Converting 68 Valiant Rear to use 15" wheels

...the way I shortened it. I know it's definitely straight. Also if you do the big bolt pattern upgrade, hunt for a 2002 Lincoln town car donut spare. Its 25" diameter, and only 5" width. It's the big bolt pattern, with a light weight aluminum rim, and fits nice and flat in the spare tire well...

Sad to see this in the junkyard

School me on 302 heads. I know they are a huge improvement over standard smog 318 heads but do they really help 360s? They bump up compression but the ports are also considerably smaller? Is there really anything to gain over standard 360 heads? It's just bad timing for me, I likely won't have...

...for that A12 look. A little sandblast and paint, make her what she ain't. With the big bolt pattern, we found that a 2002 lincoln town car donut spare is 25" diameter, light weight aluminum, and clears the large bolt pattern disc brakes nicely. It also sits flat in the spare tire well Heres pix

    Anyone using donut spares?

Nah. Nothing even remotely modern enough to have a donut spare is 5x4”. And while 5x100mm is close, it is not close enough. Not IMO anyway. I gave up carrying a spare locally. If I end up with a flat in a safe enough spot to change a tire I can just wait for my AAA tow. And if I’m not in a...

Super simple/brilliant rattle can tool: Rustoleum Comfort Grip

That’s what I was looking at spares from to find the 145/80-18 option. 72blunblu, You said the spare tire well won’t fit a 27” donut spare? Man this is the part I wish I could try before I buy one... really like what I found, even thought about getting the lug wrench and jack too so I would...

...Wanted something that lays flat, and will clear the brakes at both ends. Without further Adieu, I give you the 2002 lincoln town car donut spare solution. It's about 5" wide, BBP, 25" diameter, and bonus the rim itself is aluminum for light weight. I got 2 of em. One for each cuda. $10 each...

    Anyone using donut spares?

Nope. I test fit on the explorer 8.8. It cleared the brakes with room to spare, did not offset backso far as to hit the leafs. In the front, it cleared the cordoba brakes just fine. Center is wide open enough to clear everything.

    Anyone using donut spares?

Yeah, the one donut I tried was 5 x 100. Would have taken a lot of grinding, then still probably wouldn’t have worked well, so I pitched it. I put some blocks under my spare tire board to raise it a couple of inches so my 205 70 14 would fit. I think the spare tire wells on these cars were made...

How much is too much or too little for donut spare?

Hey Folks, In my 64 Valiant, with a 8 1/4 suregrip, I want to put a donut in my trunk and I have found a size that's really close to the diameter I want to run at all 4 corners. After reading a bunch of info on the site, it left me with an unanswered question. How much of a...
