    [WANTED] 1972 duster 340 hood

Hey there! My father passed and he was working on his 1972 Duster 340 which I inherited. I’d really like to learn more about it and pick up where he left off. The hood he has on it is in rough shape and I was hoping to find another hood. If anyone has a good condition hood that’s not resin or...

    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

I'm guessing a little bit of oil was getting in from the lifter valley. There was light blue in the exhaust but not a lot like you would get with rings being worn out. I don't know what the cylinder pressure should be in an 8 to 1 compression engine, but what I am thinking might be a...

I wouldn't go any less than Cometic and I would CALL them and see what they recommend for your application. Let them know the boost around and the whole nine yards. They may have something that can do the job without o-ringing the block. That sure would be convenient.

    Window Glass Question

Where are your lock knobs? Ones back by the rear edge are '67-8 type. Forward several inches and they're '69-up. Doors without vent windows are '70-2 Duster/Demon or '73-up all 2dr's. If you driver's side door still has the VIN sticker, that will tell the tale too.

    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

Here are my thoughts. It appears that #6 has just completely pushed the head gasket out. Number #4 is not far behind. Looking at the pressures again I would say that #7 is headed that way as well. The cylinder walls still have crosshatch on them and I didn't see any scratches. There are no...

How would you rebuild this 318?

Correct. But how far does he want to go and how much money does he want to spend on a 318? Unless he's going to add a roller cam, some exotic heads, turbo or blower, he's not going to make a huge difference from what he has now. That's why I recommended sticking with what he has.

How would you rebuild this 318?

If the OP is happy with the power he makes, then yes nothing needs to be changed combo wise, but since he asking what to change sounds like he's looking for more power. And that's mainly done through cam and or heads, better heads probably be more streetable than larger cam, especially if he's...

I got it taken apart today. Here are the photos. Jack I didn't see anything obvious damage wise. The one thing I really noticed was how much cleaner #6 was compared to the other pistons. There was no scoring of the cylinder walls and no ring ridge. The cam lobes looked great. #6 here is...
