    273 Commando - UTG

Hard to imagine a 318 couldn't run <10 sec qtr mile, at least with mods, since a slant-six ran 9.09 sec:

If he is, likely just a viewer. He would need a thick skin to tolerate the abuse he takes from other "experts" here. I like his youtubes and learn a lot, but many people are offended by anyone treading in their playground. Be careful what tech opinions you express here, especially anything...

    Parts Cache Value…

A flatbed car trailer will work, if you don't need the car enclosed while moving it. I bought a big one (Class III hitch) to move all our stuff xcountry from CA to GA in 1994. I added 2x4 stake walls, using existing pockets for them on the sides. Pulled it with our 1965 Chrysler. Rear-ended...

    273 Commando - UTG

Depending upon the exact numbers, that fender tag alone could be worth more than the car. I've heard of people buying a rusted-out car w/ desirable fender tag, replacing everything under the fender tag (plus VIN tag if exists), then calling that the same car. Of course, with options to match...

    Parts Cache Value…

It is the swings in temperature which cause condensation. If the metal gets cool at night, water vapor may condense on it in the morning. I even get condensation dripping inside a metal carport roof in Sacramento the morning after a cold, clear night in the more humid Winter. Less now that I...

    273 Commando - UTG

Similar to the Ford 289 the same years. 4.5L isn't considered a small V-8 in Euro world, especially today. Of course those have better breathing with overhead camshafts. You have to spin the rpm up to get the HP. They say "all original", but first thing you see in the engine bay is that...

    Parts Cache Value…

In Missouri, you will likely get condensation on parts in that uninsulated sheet-metal building, unless protected in sealed bins. I got slight rust on tools in my detached garage in Atlanta, and it was fairly stable temperature with concrete block, half in the earth and insulated roof. If you...

    Electronic ignition upgrade.

Best to detail your engine and car whenever asking an engine question. I had to scroll down to post #46 to learn. Easiest is the 8-pin GM HEI module (1985-95) with their coil and cable which connects the two. Many posts and TrailBeast here use to sell as a kit for those who don't go to...

Street Outlaw star dies in wreck.

"... where street races are held at least once a month" Is this a public road and not closed for racing by authorities? If so, strange the Police wouldn't learn of the regular races and shut it down. Race tracks have provisions for safety. Paul Walker ("Fast and Furious") died in showing off...

    76 breaks problem

A 4th option is to install a Ford 8.8 rear-end. That is mostly done by drag racers and not needed for a slant-six. It gives disk brakes. Not trivial since one side must be shortened by cutting and re-welding, then using a shorter-side axle on that now-shortened side. Several posts with...

    76 breaks problem

slant6dart76 has an 8-1/4, as is junkyardhero post 28. Just count the 10 bolt (5 below in post 26). A 7-1/4 has 9 bolts. Oops. Just noticed that 7-1/4 also has 5 bolts on the lower half, and we can't see the upper half in post 26, so agree slant6dart76 has a 7-1/4 rear-end.

    HEI conversion benefits

Often true that those GM-style coil-in-cap distributors are too wide, so interfere with the firewall. Also pricey. GM changed to an external coil in 1985, using their "small cap" distributor, even though their small-block had room for a coil-in-cap.

    HEI conversion benefits

If picking parts, you also grab the GM coil and the cable which connects the 8-pin module to the coil, so no custom-wiring for that. The coil has a white wire for tach signal. Also clip the pickup wire and cable. The 8-pin module is inside the "small-cap" distributor. The pickup connector is...

    HEI conversion benefits

Easiest and cheapest is the Ningbo "ready to run" distributor on ebay. I put one on my 1965 Dart 273 ($45) with the e-core coil ($20) (both from seller Steve White Performance). Not avail for slant-six. I also found a spare module ($15 ebay), which I think is used in some Japanese cars...

    Off idle hesitation - solved

Thanks for splaining your setup. Is that WWC carburetor correct PN for a slant? volaredon above said that some Super-Six came with a WWC instead of a BBD. There were also WWC and BBD models for much larger Mopar engines (and other makes).

    Off idle hesitation - solved

Why I said to check the PN. But, even a carb for a 318 would be oversized for a 225 slant. I understand the BBD on slants had a lower CFM rating than for a 318. A 4 bbl carb can be even more over-sized on a slant, unless you can find one of the rare and expensive 370 cfm 4 bbl. An...

    Off idle hesitation - solved

Besides having a 2 bbl Stromberg WWC carburetor, other things are much different than a 1966 slant. I doubt due to Canada. Yours has an EGR intake manifold, which I don't think was until the mid-1970's. Even California cars with the Clean Air Package in 1966 had only a few additions like PCV...

    76 breaks problem

Rockauto shows Centric 123.63020 for your car (1976 Dart, front disks). Their Centric listings are best since give all dimensions and photos. Strange if your rear wheel bolt circles was 5x4"D. Does your spare wheel fit both front and rear? You can find many photos how to measure bolt circle...

As stated, I have used 2 different PC's for the FABO site, both running Win 10 Home w/ latest Chrome browser. As I said, it behaves better on this page, but is bad on other pages. Popups seem less frequent on this page. It also behaved better in Edge, not totally losing the cursor, sometimes...

    Factory ammeter

You can google my past posts with photos. Parallel-reversed diodes with a forward drop ~0.5 V (at ~100 A). I measured ~0.75 V drop in the ammeter circuit at ~50 A output. The diodes I used are rated ~200 A and need a heat sink (can be the copper wires). Don't try it unless you understand...

    Factory ammeter

Reason for the "MAD Bypass", though that disables the dash ammeter. Some owners instead install a dash voltmeter. I added a shunt diode to my 3 1960's Mopars so that increasing currents begin flowing direct from alternator to BAT+. The ammeter is still active, but doesn't peg. My cars have...

    Room for a Clutch-Fan in a '65?

A similar clutch-fan thread is running. The Hayden 2947 is marketed for tuners needing space, about 2.7" thick. $52 at rockauto. A 1980's M-B diesel clutch fan is ~2.3" thick w/ its thin nylon fan. It bolts to a Mopar water pump snout and I recall the same pilot hole diameter. A junkyard...

Tried again to post a reply to a clutch-fan thread and it worked this time. Typing this is working too. When it quirks, it acts like perhaps popups keep taking focus away so the cursor is no longer on the text. You must click again to reset the cursor and continues happening. When you hit...

Any clutch fan options for 73 dart, /6?

Thanks. Hayden 2947 is marketed for tight clearance in muscle cars. $52 at rockauto. 2.7" thick, a bit more than the 1980's M-B clutch-fan. Low Profile Fan Clutch
