    painting bumpers

I had the bumpers on my Duster re-chromed by Oregon Plating (Portland) for $400 @ I thought that was expensive. I had my Dart bumper done for $250 @ 7 years ago. Now, $800? Wow!

The Other 68 Dart Resto Project

I went through this drill with our families '68. My MIL passed away and left the car to us. Everyone wanted the car because she had owned the car since new. It was a two door, 318 post. It was immaculate. She lived in the desert and the car had absolutely no rust. I did put in a 340, 8 3/4, 727...

Bad news for the CA central Valley

In Salem, Oregon we do not have ANY DEQ tests. We still are not safe to pump our own gas but we do not have any test labs to bribe!

    Duster finally coming back together...

I have some sound deadener that does not have any "sticky" on it. I have to spray both surfaces and it is kinda messy. Where do you go to get the stuff you are using with the sticky side?

Sold my Duster and my Dart

I am "Moparless"! I have sold both of my restored Mopars. I sold my 73 Duster 360 Sport Coupe to a guy in NY and my '68 Dart 340 Tudor went to a guy in Yakima, WA. They both show the cars and are quite proud of them. I am pleased that they went to good homes where they will be appreciated and be...

    Sold the Ol'Dodge

My wife suggested we sell the Dodge Dart. We put a note on it at the All Mopar meet in Salem and a fellow from Yakima bought it. It was a sad day when the Dart left but it is going to a great owner and a nice garaged home. He will take good care of the Dart. I still receive the Mopar Muscle...

    71 Plymouth Scamp $300

I bought a '73 Duster Sports Coupe for $400. It was very similar to this '71. I put $20,000 into it and sold it for $10,000. It was worth the 10 grand just to see it reborn as a 360/727/8.75 Suregrip coupe. Hope the guy that bought it appreciates it!

    Edelbrock LD 340

I have the stock cast iron intake on my '68 340. It has been professionally ported and polished. It is a beautiful intake. I wanted the correct intake for my '68 Dart so I am stuck with the factory intake. At least it is flowing at the max rate thanks to a great porting job. I also have the...

    Automotive repair no-no's

Always locate a good/full fire extinquisher when starting a new motor. I had an engine catch fire in the winter time when everything was frozen in the shop. The power steering line failed and the headers ignited the oil. I shut her down but could not find anything to put out the fire. Hose was...

    All-Mopar show in Salem, Oregon

I just came back from showing my Dart in the All-Mopar event in Salem. I have attended this event for 4 years. The numbers were down this year. I am guessing we had a decrease of 30-35% from 2005. I am not aware of any conflicts for Mopars. What is causing this slide in participation? How are...

Heater or valve leak????? How to take it out????

What closes the water off and controls the heat level? I do not have any valve in the engine compartment. Mine is under the dash. I am hoping this valve is leaking (if I can find it!). It appears to be in the "box". I guess once I get the heater core assembly out I will find it. I'll let you...

Heater or valve leak????? How to take it out????

I am hoping it is the valve. Is this an integral part of the core? Will I get a new valve with the core? Are they separate?

Heater or valve leak????? How to take it out????

Great inormation guys! I think I can handle this, now. I will take out the bench seat and go to work. If I cannot fix the core, where is the source for a new heater core... Year 1?

Heater or valve leak????? How to take it out????

OK! I take the blower motor bolts out. Do I need to take the cover off the heater core? I understand the heater controls need to be removed. I do not understand the process. I need to take the fresh air duct off. A long extension from under the dash?

Heater or valve leak????? How to take it out????

I have a leak in my cooling system. When I kick it into passing gear and run it up in the rpm's, it squirts coolant out the heater duct onto the passenger's side foot well. I never leaks unless I hammer it. I smelled the coolant and could not find the leak. I finally saw it 'glisten' on the...

    Coolant leak inside!!!!

I am thinking the same. I guess I will just have to hunker down and tighten the clamps. At 6'2", over 60 and 275, I have a little trouble getting under the dash! I can take out the bench seat if I have too. Oh well, time will tell....

    Coolant leak inside!!!!

Took the Dart out to clear the rust out of the exhaust. I kicked her down and she rev'd up to the shift point. I smelled antifreeze... Where? I looked down at the passenger side floor mat and water had been spraying out from the heater. It does not leak when driving under normal circumstances...

Need some help with S/S exh. extensions

The muffler guy very carefully installed the S/S tips. He had to do a new passengerside tailpipe to make it mount correctly. I am pleased with this guys work. He used a level to make certain they were 'plumb' with the ground and measured the length from the bumper: 1". I had turndowns before...

Need some help with S/S exh. extensions

OK. I had the Duster out about 2" and they did not look that good. They looked like they were an 'add-on'. I will have the guy put them 1" out from the edge of the bumper. Thanks guys!

    New Members

I have been "away" working on another restoration. ('71 240Z) I finally finished it and have been spending time on my '68 Dart 340 Post. It was used as a covered parts shelf for almost 2 years. It is looking good now and I am preparing it for a July show. It is nice to have the 340 power, again...

Need some help with S/S exh. extensions

I am putting some Stainless steel extensions on my 68 dart. I put a set on a 73 Duster and I did not like the look. They stuck out too far. Anyone have a pic of a stock set-up? I need to see how far out they extend past the bumper. Pics anyone?
