    POWDER COATING COST

My powder coater will help with small jobs in the major colors he does (black predominately) where he collects all the small jobs for a week and does 1 huge job of all the gloss black at once, turning a bunch of small jobs into a big one. Expect custom colors to be more for the setup and...

    Cragar Mach 8 Spacers

Thanks for the idea. I've looked at those, and I don't think they will. Those look like they are traditional wheel spacers. These things actually go into the back of the wheel to make a flat surface that can be flat up against the hub. Weirdest thing I ever did see.

    Cragar Mach 8 Spacers

Thanks! I'll ask, I thin there were plenty of washers for the front side under the lugs. I texted my brother and he said they had the other ring, it was just in pieces and missing one of the oval parts for the backside of the wheel. They have 4/5ths of the other ring. I'll get a look at it when...

    Cragar Mach 8 Spacers

I'm not sure they'd survive getting cut down, as someone else said, they aren't the best castings. They appear to be pretty brittle. And you also haven't met my Dad, not running Mach 8s is complete heresy lol. I'm guessing my best option is to get some made. I'll talk to some guys with access...

    Cragar Mach 8 Spacers

I think they press into the back of the wheel. I know they said you can't mount the wheels without one of the spacers in there. Dad had 4 wider spaces that they used and that located the rear wheels fine but the fronts look stupid. I don't have a picture of the back of the wheel, but my brother...

    Cragar Mach 8 Spacers

So, I decided to just start here, though I'm not sure where I need to go or how I'm gonna track this down sort of having this part made, but let's try! Recently got my Dad's Dart fired up again after a 30+ year snooze, and in that time he bought a set of 14x6 Mach 8s to go on the front to match...

Looking for other Mopar geeks in Dallas area

I'm game, my Dart is miles away from hitting the road again, but I'm slowly making progress. If you guys hit Texas Thaw let me know, I'm happy to make the drive over. I'm in Denton fairly regularly, I'm finishing up my degree so I end up at Discovery Park once in awhile on weekends. If posting...

I'm up in Prosper! I don't have much time but my wife says I need more friends, and the only people I really care to talk to more than in passing is car people :poke:

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Yeah, that picture is all of our favorites of the ones we've looked at so far. There are still 2 more cameras that need gone through. Mom said she still remembers seeing Dad next door to her cousin's house the first time. It was the summer of 1975 and she got his attention and they went for ice...

No worries on the rush! It's a 5 hour run between houses, and I just hadn't' made it home yet to post. I wasn't going to not post an update after all of the help!

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

I just got home tonight, we revealed it on Thursday. Thanks everyone for coming along for the ride and all of your advice as we made this happen. It's been 2 days and Dad still can't talk about it without choking up. It's one of the absolutely coolest things I've ever had the chance to be a part...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Everyone, we've got a running car again. I got on the horn with Ryan and we went over all of the advice we received, talked it through. Parts were bench testing fine. We just couldn't put on finger on it. We finally just made a temporary ignition harness and bypass the main harness and it fired...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

So, I'm not fully understanding this interlock that his car has. Apparently it is still installed and was giving them problems early on and preventing the car from cranking. Currently it is still hooked up and the car will crank but they're not getting spark. They can jump the 2 yellow wires...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

They're tracing wires and connections. This has got to be a bad connection somewhere. The coil ohms out fine (1.4 ohm on the primary coil and 9800 on the secondary). The ballast resistor checks out. At this point it's just a matter of if they'll have time to find it or not. We weren't going to...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

They're going connection by connection now looking for any issues. They've tried various ECUs, ballasts, coils, and swapped the distributor. Still not getting good spark. We aren't sure why these pins on the ballast are jumped, anyone have any ideas? This is so frustrating, we had the damn thing...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Just swapped my distributor in to see if that changes anything, thinking maybe the pickup isn't signaling the ECU for some reason after getting hosed off.

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Apparently they've resolved the ignition issues, and now are still not having any spark out of the coil. Happy to hear ideas of what would cause no spark after hosing off 30 years worth of dust and grime :(.

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

SOS: New Module didn't solve it. Open to troubleshooting ideas as they work through this new problem. They're busy troubleshooting trying to figure out what's happened. My brother said they're not getting spark out of the coil anymore. They hosed off the dirt, so clearly water got somewhere it...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

They were about to load it up and trailer it back home and they lost spark :(. They checked the interlock and everything else and suspect the ignition module I sent may have went out. It's the one I took off my car in 2006, so it's not new, but I'm surprised it may have quit so quickly. I have...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Success! This accomplishes exactly what we set out to achieve. it doesn't run perfect, he's got lots of room to improve and tinker, but at least he can stop towing it from spot to spot and drive it instead! Under it's own power for the first time since 1986, the year my little brother (the...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Carb is rebuilt, car runs and idles, we know it has reverse. She'll be on the ground here in a few and move under her own power for the first time in over 30 years! My brother and friends are absolutely crushing it. Apparently the turn signal switch is not functioning causing there to be no...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Hah, if you knew my Dad, you'd know that there is no way there is a seat belt interlock anywhere left. That man will listen to a modern car ding at him for hours before he puts a seat belt on. It drives me bonkers. I'll let them know that is a thing, though, in case they run into any problems.

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Turns out the ignition module I ordered (this one Standard Motor Ignition Modules LX101) only has 4 pins, and Dad's car required 5 pins. Fortunately the one that I sent from my turn apart '75 was the right one. They switched it on and got spark right away. Not sure how I picked the wrong one...

Thanks, info passed along! They're done for tonight. They're going to get back after it in the morning. They're way ahead of where we thought they'd get to by this point so hopefully with 2 days to go we can get this sorted. Really appreciate the responses to all of my questions so far. You guys...

Hit the main road block, the carb isn't going to get us where we were hoping to get to. It has a Holley 390 manual choke (pic for visibility is an electric choke, but it seems that might be all Holley makes now) on it and is sending fuel out the vent. Anyone localish to Wichita, KS have a Holley...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

Well, most everything is done, and they're too the point of trying to fire it off. They don't have any spark and are brainstorming ideas why they may not be getting it. New pretty much everything in the ignition system: coil, ballast resistor, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, ignition module. She's...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

I think we've got most of what we need at the moment, but that's really generous! She's still going to need plenty of things that he can do in the mean time, I think what he needs is just a big "kickstart" to get some of the bigger things done that he's not strong enough to do anymore, and then...

Help Firing Dad's Dart up Again - SOS - No Spark After Hosing Off the Dust

It was originally a 3-speed, Dad then put an 833 in it, and now it has a 727. I'll pass that along, but they had already pulled some wires off before they sent me the pic.
