Fix for Cowl Shake and Body ?

Thanks for the replies. I already have a lot of "Road Kill" sound deadener material installed, but next spring I'll do a better job by installing more, especially in the trunk and quarters. I'm also going to find out about the US Car Tool stiffening kits and see if there is a way to reinforce...

Fix for Cowl Shake and Body ?

It's not bad on my restored and modified daily driver '64 200, but it is noticeable at in-town street speeds. I've been told that brand Cs use some kind of counter balance weights in their convertible fenders to dampen movement, but that sounds like something that needs calculated engineering...

[FOR SALE] 1965 Chrysler-Plymouth dealer introduction music

In the late summer of 1964, I worked at a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in North Dakota. The franchise owner and his sales manager attended the 1965 model year introduction event in Minneapolis. When they returned, they brought us records of all the music used in the new Chrysler and Plymouth...

vintage air in an early A body

My memory sucks, but I think it was around 2003...a couple of years after I got the car, but I don't remember exactly. Their newer and smaller units would make it easier now. Seven or eight years ago I changed the console and HVAC controls to look a little more like something Mopar than...

vintage air in an early A body

Yes, I put one in my '64 Valiant convertible several years ago, long before they offered kits for specific cars. It was a tight fit, but worked fine and only problem so far is a refrigerant leak that I have to fix before next summer. I did a write-up if interested. Vintage Air

    Hot Tap Water...Faster

We've built and lived in three different houses in the past 20 years. The first had a standard hot water tank on each end of the house. It worked well, but both failed within a month after the six-year warranty ran out, so you just double your installation and monthly expenses. Our contractors...

Helping with local car show. Looking for advice/ideas

Take a deep breath and be prepared for controversy. The folks who do all the work are usually great....some of the participants are not. I did it for several years, but never again.

    Interior Paint, Gloss or Semi-Gloss

I don't know what years are covered, but when I painted my '64 Valiant, the old PPG color chart my auto paint store had in their history books listed interior colors on the back of the chart. It gave the location, code and texture, and everything they mixed was a perfect match.

75/76 Dodge Dart /6 average MPG and improvements

If it's high MPG you want, the '75-'76 slants are not the best candidates. I bought a '75 Valiant Brougham brand new, and it was the only A-body that I really disliked. I traded a '68 Fury 318 that got 14-15 city and 18-22 on trips, for the plush, but woefully underpowered Valiant that averaged...

    Cleaning Rubber Windshield Gaskets

I've tried several things, but found lacquer thinner works best on the ones I cleaned. Solvent proof rubber gloves are mandatory unless you are willing to put up with stained hands until it wears off.

What in the world is THIS? A 1974 Scamp/Valiant/Broughham??? Kinda sweet...

I bought a new '75 Brougham 4-door slant, and sadly, it was the least favorite Mopar I ever owned. It was plush, comfortable and handled great. It was also thirsty, troublesome, and gutless.

Sears selling Craftsman brand to Black and Decker

B&D were great thirty years ago, but everything I bought from them in the past few years is junk. Craftsman used to be the best for price and quality for the hobbyist, but the last two 1/4" ratchets I bought lasted only a few days. Even "professional grade" brands are a mixed bag when it comes...

Solvent for cleaning oil pump and oil screen

I brush apply gasoline to remove most of the gunk from any carbon covered parts, then a final spray cleaning with carb cleaner. I once had a parts cleaning tank with a pump, and bought bulk solvent five gallons at a time from NAPA, but it didn't seem to work any better than gas. The water based...

    In case of stuck lugnuts

Tried it on my window regulator adjusting nuts. All the parts appear to be zinc plated and the screws that are corroded and wouldn't loosen with PB Blaster won't break loose with the wax treatment either. It may not work on corrosion, but since it seems to work on rust, it's a great trick to know!

    392 hemi in a 64 dart?

I've seen a 392 Hemi in a motorcycle, so it will fit, but as someone who installed a first generation Hemi in a '55 Plymouth, I can say that there is no way I would ever again put more than 800 pounds over the front wheels of a light vehicle not designed for that much weight. It flew, but with...

    All hail the Plymouth Horizon

I bought three new 2-door Horizons...'79, '82 and '87. The VW-based engine in the '79 began burning oil at about 70k, but the 2.2s in the later ones were great. All had automatics, and they were flawless. All got well over 30 mpg in my 25-mile daily commute of mixed driving. My only complaints...

Apparently no one makes rear window seal/ gasket for 64 Dart

Unless your old one is torn or cracked, it can probably be salvaged. Lots of rags, a flat blade screwdriver, a can of lacquer thinner and a few hours of dirty, smelly wiping and scraping can make old parts flexible and looking almost new.
