I want a Dana 60 for my demon, does it matter if it's full floater since I have to narrow it? Would it be any harder to narrow than a semi floater? Where do I find the parts I'll need when I narrow it? Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will try to find a car to get one from. Since all of the damage is on the lower half could I do as Oneofmany said and cut the lower half of the core off mine and the donor and weld the new piece in? Would there be any drawbacks?

Would the new core have to come from a demon or could it be from a duster or other a body?

I started taking my demon apart and found out that when the p.o. tried to move it he not only tore up the lower valance, but also the core support. It is messed up pretty bad on the bottom from the left framerail to the middle. Is it possible to change the core support? If so, how hard and does...

It is either j440t or t440j. I believe it is the first one. I am sure it has a forged crank now.

I was just wanting to make sure. I thought it might be different since mine does not have the hd stuff like the brake and short tailshaft on the trans, but it's not.

I would Have to say it is forged then. It is about 3/4 to 1 in thick and looks more like a round solid weight than a balancer. That is good to know. Now if I could just remember where I planted that money tree maybe I could get my demon on the road.

I picked up my 440 and in my other thread someone said it could have a forged crank. How can I tell without tearing the motor down? The casting number on the block is 3698830-440-5 if that helps, and it is date coded 7-30-72.

I didn't know to look if it was internal or externally balanced, but it is a 440 either way. I will probably put a cam and intake in it and drive it til it needs to be refreshed. It has 79k on it. I have a lot of work to do before the car will be ready for it. I saw it and did not want to pass...

Ok, so I went and checked it out. It is a '73 not a '71, 440 with 452 heads. The trans has the long tailshft and no trans brake. I am going to pick it up as soon as he gets it out.
