    SE Wisconsin Engine Builder?

I also no way would trust those guys (MM&K) on part selection!!!!!! In my experience they are simply not in tune with anything latest and greatest. I've never personally dealt with Jeff Wick, but have heard very good things about him. Around here (SE Wi) my brother (he builds motors on the side...

    SE Wisconsin Engine Builder?

MM and Kilpatricks seemed confused and that I was wasting their time when I asked basic stuff like square decking, cylinder bore spacing (after sonic checking wall thicknesses), quench, etc...........I just got the impression of guys stuck in the 70's that just "take 'er tirty over and clean up...

Super victor intake and valve cover clearence

While taking the pics, now I remember that I actually did indeed mill material from the edges of the injector bosses for clearance, unfortunately I cannot remember how much I removed though! Hopefully the pics help.

Super victor intake and valve cover clearence

valve cover spacers (1/2"), I needed them to clear my aftermarket rocker arms since I wanted to keep the valve cover baffles.....I can take a pic if you'd like.....

Super victor intake and valve cover clearence

I used the Medice Mfg spacers. I assume with the SV intake you're not running stock rockers (or did you remove the baffles inside the valve covers)?

Hughes main stud girdle - yes or no

If I had to do it over again, I'd probably pass on the girdle (for my application).....the added expense and hassles for what you get in return is most likely not worth it.

How deep is the induction hardening on magnum heads - can I do a valve job?

I think I've had enough of the "do it right" preaching......pretty sure I've got a good handle on how to do things "right", was just asking for firsthand information so I can make an informed decision TO do it "right" instead of just guessing.

How deep is the induction hardening on magnum heads - can I do a valve job?

I don't disagree with the "fix it right" part, why do you think I asked how deep the induction hardening goes??!! if it goes a hundred thou deep, I'm not throwing my $$$ away by installing seats! If you KNOW the answer to my original question, please state so. But you didn't even attempt to...

How deep is the induction hardening on magnum heads - can I do a valve job?

allow me to clarify, this is a 300 dollar beater plowtruck with no interior, half the body left, etc.....i'm assuming to have seats installed would cost more than the truck is worth??

How deep is the induction hardening on magnum heads - can I do a valve job?

these are beyond lapping.....i bet the pits in the seats gotta be at least 10 thou deep, maybe more....

How deep is the induction hardening on magnum heads - can I do a valve job?

Hi guys, bought a pos '97 ram with a crappy running 360 to use as a plow truck. Pulled heads and the exhaust valves and seats are HORRIBLE, was able to clean up the valves and still have some margin left, but I worry about cleaning up the seats and going thru the hardened portion - I have no...

Milodon Road Race Pan - any surprises on installation?

photo is WITHOUT fasteners in place, with fasteners there is about a sheet of paper thickness clearance (.002").......good thing I have a crank scraper which spaces the oil pan down another 50 thou, otherwise it would totally interfere....... edelbrock heads......

Milodon Road Race Pan - any surprises on installation?

ok, found another issue - TTI headers interfere with this oil pan (even though claimed to fit this oil pan).....guess I'll be bashing my $900 headers for clearance........and I also have to enlarge passenger side fastener holes, can get the front and rear screws in, nothing in between - cmon, I...

    Small block dipstick tube

Mancini raw dipstick as mentioned, pound in straight (using a screwdriver inserted into tube) and then bend once installed.....I think I used rtv or green Loctite - don't remember which.

Milodon Road Race Pan - any surprises on installation?

I misspoke about interference with the steering box support, the interference is with the motor mount support (drivers side).....

Milodon Road Race Pan - any surprises on installation?

Update....I had two surprises. 1: HV oil pump interferes with pan. I ground away approx. 1/8" from pump body edge in order to seat the pan. 2: After installing the engine this past weekend, I noticed there is zero clearance between pan and gusset of steering support box (part of k member). I...

    B3 Racing Engines Geometry Kit

I would assume likewise....but how much sooner does it wear guides, etc...? My gut tells me it would take substantial mileage (in a stock engine) to notice said effects, and probably sooner with higher lifts and pressures, but how much sooner- anybody have any data?

    B3 Racing Engines Geometry Kit

wow, nice improvement, however my question is.....what detrimental effect would one notice if the 1st pattern was left well enough alone? I have to assume that the vast majority of "built" engines share that same 1st pattern???

My oil burning pig. Pics too!

One of the reasons I love old threads! I just test ran my first engine (see other thread), and noticed what I thought a huge amount of oil puddled on top of the intake valves after yanking the carburetor off. Same deal, porting broke through the valve cover screw holes - I will epoxy studs in -...

got my first motor fired up

Thank you, I do have to thank many people for allowing me to pick their brains, including a lot of lurking on this forum trying to absorb info.... I doubt I will dyno this engine, don't have time as I really want to get my car on the road asap.... I just wanted 500hp/500tq on pump gas, Brian...

got my first motor fired up

oh, and I also have retrofit hyd roller lifters (probably Morels), the other thread on this forum had me worried....but I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the valvetrain is on this engine!

got my first motor fired up

no idea on the headers, got them from a free 1973 dodge camper.....i was happy they cleared the road race pan, the headers my brother normally uses on his run stand interfered.....

got my first motor fired up

I used BPE rotating assembly (Callies Compstar 6.2 rods, Autotec pistons)....with bore already at .060 over, I sonic checked this block 3 times to make sure it wasn't gonna be a timebomb...of course all three test gave three different results, but they all showed acceptable results.....comes out...
