    Front suspension experimentation

I found a good deal on a Wilwood disc kit for the 68 Valiant....so the trusty 9" drums had to go. While I had the car apart for that, I decided to also rebuild the front end as it was the all-original 55 year old pieces....still working well. With all the talk about caster, I decided to make...

    1980's brake system disc/drum

The aluminum master cylinder from the late 70's onward is used on lots of older Mopars. In looking at the factory manual (1983 Chrysler), the brake system (disc/drum) uses a single proportioning valve/distribution block/hold-off valve assembly as pictured. So here's my question....where is the...

Synthetic Oil - good or bad?

I know any thread that deals with oil will generate a lot of opinions, but just for kicks... I ran into an old friend yesterday I hadn't seen in over 10 years....he owns a company that services fleet vehicles. His biggest account is a telecom company, they have a bunch of heavy and light...

    Oerlikon UB2

Here's my latest tool ...an Oerlikon UB2 radial dress press. This is a Swiss-made drill press which has the unusual ability to drill in a 360 degree swivel in both the head and the column....very handy for angle drilling or getting at tough spots. It has 3 power feed speeds and speeds from 30...

Who makes good oil pans for the SBM?

I'm getting close to needing an oil pan for my R3W7 project. I've spent some time looking around and haven't found anyone that can/will make a pan. This pan will more or less need to be custom, and probably aluminum. I've found some custom fabbers, but they're not set up to make SBM pans...

    R3W7 Assembly

I'm at a point where I can start some assembly on my engine so I thought I'd start this thread to document some of it....I still need some parts/time/money so it won't be a fast job but I'm getting closer. I ordered some Diamond piston from Ray Barton; they came in today and look very nice. I...

    Cam plug with O-Ring

I made this plug today, haven't drilled the attaching holes yet. But I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if it worked well? I've never had a problem with the factory concave or pressed in plugs, but it seems an O-ring and fasteners would be more reliable. I've seen people use...

    W2 Shelby Pantera

Watching that 'Car Kings' show last night...aside from the usual sexy-hair-black-clothes dopes...they were restoring Carroll Shelby's Pantera that had been powered by...a turbo'd SB Mopar of all things. Most interesting was you could see it had W2 heads. Vintage Mopar muscle, for sure.

1968 vs. 1969 Valiant rear glass weatherstrip

I'm looking for a rear glass weatherstrip/gasket/seal for a 68 Valiant 2DR sedan. I think the part number is 2841826. Steel Rubber carries this for the 1969 Valiant 2 DR sedan but they claim it's different than a '68....but of course can't tell me why it's different. Classic Industries lists...

    Weights of components

One aspect of the automotive world that interests me is all the BS you hear about weights. So I bought a scale some time ago and weigh stuff when I have the chance. I'm going to post some pics and weights for your consideration. One pic I don't have anymore is of a Dana 60 - the God-awful...

    My '68 cuda ....

This isn't really a 'restoration' but just 'keeping a car going'. I've had this car since 1982 when I bought it for $250. By 1983 it had a 440 which was fairly exotic back then. I drag raced it every weekend for a couple years, driving 40 miles to the track, racing, than driving it back home...

[FOR TRADE] 68 Cuda notchback for 68-69 Dart or Valiant

I've had this car for over 25 years and it's been sitting right where you see it the whole time...sorry the pics are bad, I know I should clean it up but had limited time. It has a small block - said to be a 360 - with a column shift auto trans. I've never looked at the rear end but it's...

Which vac pot gets which hose? '68 'cuda

'68 A body with factory AC I've had the hoses off for so long I don't remember which hose goes where...does anyone have a diagram? The factory service manual shows Hose #1-7 (#6 is engine vacuum) going to the three different vacuum pots...but it's a drawing done such that it doesn't really...
