    Torsion Bar Selection

I have 73 Duster, which now has a 400hp 360, 727, 8 3/4 that replaced the original 6 cylinder, 904, 7 1/4. It still has the original 6 cylinder torsion bars. It is a daily driver ran occasionally on the track, 13.70's. When two people are in the car, the front rides too low, too cushy, and we...

    Stopping rust under paint?

Sounds like it needs to be cut out again if I don't want to take chances. If I were to patch it, what steps are needed to prep the area for a nice blend? I wouldn't spray it myself, but I'd rather do everything I can manage so I'm not spending big bucks on labor. (If I were to go this route)...

    Stopping rust under paint?

The guy who painted the car cut/welded the previous rust spots, but I guess its a wasted effort if he doesn't coat the back of the metal with anything :???: I'm just hoping theres hope to stop it from getting any worse by use of a rust converter/air tight coating. Any recommendations?

    Stopping rust under paint?

I noticed a few small bubbles forming underneath the paint of the duster... great. rust. It is in the same spot I had trouble with before, right behind the rear wheel in the bottom corner of the fender. Would I just find where the metal is exposed and spray it with a dense paint or a rust...

    Exploding Torqueflites

I just ordered a B&M TransPak kit for my 727. I then started to wonder if this could interfere with the L/R band and cause it stop working. It is the stock forward valve body, should I have any problems with it? Thanks for any replies 8)

Firewall for Trunk w/ Nitrous and battery!

They have pre-made boxes for batteries, although it's kind of pricey http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv6batt.htm And you'd need a pretty stinkin' big switch if your going to put it in line with the main battery cable if that's what you mean. But you could run wires from stuff like the fuel pump...

how to get 400+ hp out of my stock 72 340????????????

Someone on a different site told me a while back (he owned a port shop), nooo polishing, unless your gonna be running 7500-8000rpm+. It's mainly used for the little Chinese cars running around. Smooth surfaces will cause the mixture molecules to stick to the walls of the ports. But If I remember...

    parts to gather

Your definitely gonna need different motor mounts, the older pokes here could probably tell you if you can steal them from another car, but for a garunteed fit try schumacher. And if the wiring harness is pulled off a sitting car, make absolutely sure the terminals don't have corrosion. A...

    Lokar suck rant...

I have the lokar kick down cable on my 727 and didn't have any length problems, although I certainly didn't go through the bell housing haha. Mine took a little different route. It goes back, over the tail shaft, forward a bit, over the bell housing, and does a couple of curves on its way up...

    Maybe a dumb question but...

This is just my guess, but i don't think the fan design would allow to to physically build any pressure. With how far apart the blades are, I'm almost certain that any extra pressure would just slip past them. Cause it's not about how much air it can push, it needs to be able to to act as a one...

Anyone Know of Online Engine Dyno Software so I Can Test a Few Combos?

Engine analyzer is suppose to be one of the best, you can try a free version of it here. <--This is a direct download link of an .exe. If you do not feel comfortable you can find it in their website. But one thing you gotta make sure and do is run the numbers you get through a drive train loss...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

I'm so confused :( Because the 274 cam has an intake centerline of 106 and it sounds like your suggesting a cam with a later centerline would offer more compression. But couldn't I just advance the XE274 cam a few degrees and have the same compression as the 268H? They both have a lobe...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

Here's a neat calculator I've played with before, the same team also has a number of others that can really get you distracted 8) http://www.wallaceracing.com/dynamic-cr.php For the harder to find input info, I'm pretty sure the stock rod length is 6.123", someone please correct me if I'm...

What do you think of this plug?

This has gotten more posts than I'd imagine  The car does run rich at WOT, although that's what I want it to do. But cruising around, the stoich. tells me it's happy with the car. But I did go with one heat range colder because the ground strap looked pretty pale when I pulled it out...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

I think I'm getting somewhere with the information I've seen, I'll try to do an updated pressure test, with the motor hot, and a little different cam grind. As long as the flex plate doesn't try to wobble around hitting every dang thing again, I'm sure it will be fine :)

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

Moper: Took liquid measurements before the engine was put together, and if I remember right it was pumping out about 145psi or a little under at about 5k miles. I'm not certain of this number though, and the car isn't in the position to be cranked on And I guess I might as well call a few of...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

Alright, i got a couple replies here. forphorty: (cool name) Just curious, whats your reasons for not liking TCI? I don't know a whole lot about most companies histories. And if I were to choose a different company for an off-the-shelf converter, what should it be? Both me and my dad trust B&M...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

That makes me feel better. The heads have already been worked over and have new valves and springs (not sure of the rate but it's for sure heavy enough, possibly replacing though). I am most likely going with the CompCam XE274 with 1.5 rockers

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

I have already picked which camshaft(s) I would like for the engine after doing a little research. I am interested if the information of cam specs, weight, etc. was enough to tell me if the torque converter I'm looking at could be suitable. And if not, I could supply the additional information...

New torque converter?? (and cam question)

I am looking to swap the stock torque converter for a new one in my 360. It all started when a few of the flex plate legs snapped apart, so now the transmission is coming out  Right now the camshaft is a CompCam 268H, the car weighs 3350-3400lbs, has a 3.23 gear, and I drive it almost...

What do you think of this plug?

I've sometimes though about switching to NGK, but the price draws me back some. But I think the topic went a different way then I wanted, I actually wanted to see if I should keep the same plug specs or if something looks wrong? Example, heat range, does it look good?

What do you think of this plug?

Just seeing what I can change to get better performance/durability from the spark plugs :) They are Autolite 65's with the copper core. And not to long ago my tech instructor told me to trash the Autolites and get Champion because they were designed for Dodge. The whole thing started when he was...

    Interesting question, Ratio Effects?

After learning a bit more about "hopping up" electric r/c cars, I've seen that two different Pinion and Spur gear combinations, with the exact same final drive ratio can actually have a major difference on the motor temperature and performance during runs. Well, how does this all come into...

    73 Duster window roller thingy?

My window fell out of socket along with a few other side effects, and the cause is a shattered roller type peice. I let me dad type of a description since he's the one who found the problem =D> And our camera is broke at the moment, but I'm sure he wrote more than enough info. "From a 1973...
