    Good morning all! I am just building an aluminum headed low deck to replace my old iron headed 440. Old engine was a 440 with iron heads, new engine is a low deck 451 with aluminum heads. Anyone have a rough idea on what the weight difference might be between the two? Thanks!

    Rocker shims = NO rocker shaft oiling

    So….. you had not enough lifter preload, so you put shims under the rocker shafts. Would that not raise the shafts and decrease the preload even more? Also, decking the heads would increase not decrease the preload. Am I missing something in your explanation?
