    Vacuum Secondary Conversion

Compression specs are usually given using the smallest chamber and also several other variables. If you run a compression test, we can get very close with a decent distributor curve I just bet will take care of the detonation.

    Vacuum Secondary Conversion

What does this mean, exactly? I take it to mean something like "I don't care what other peoples opinions are, I know what I'm doing with the carburetor" If that's the case, tell me now and I won't waste any more of my time. Carburetor tuning can be taught easily and it's a stone cold FACT a...

    Slant Six Carb Issues

I stopped reading at Holley. There's your problem. At least, in my opinion.

    Vacuum Secondary Conversion

What is the compression? I'd be willing to bet you can solve the detonation by a good timing curve.

    Vacuum Secondary Conversion

I don't necessarily agree with that old adage. A double pumper can be tuned to beat a vacuum secondary every time if you know what you're doing.

340 exhaust heat shield needed for Van's to repop.

Right. They'd already be on the shelf everywhere. I think Vans would be just as happy with a good used one.

1980 360 La oil pump pickup tube install

That hole was used somehow in the casting process. It's nothing of use. If you're using a one piece oil pan gasket, there's no need for sealant. Also, you can use Locktite on the bolts. I prefer blue.

Found my dads original 1971 duster!

I'm not a Duster expert, but I think some did. These guys on here know a lot more about that kinda thing than I do so they'll let us know.

1980 360 La oil pump pickup tube install

Yes. You may have to rock it back and forth a little but it will come right off. The important part is installing the pickup correctly. It needs to be touching the bottom of the oil pan slightly when it is in the correct place. That's with the oil pan gaskets in place.

It has two bolts that hold it on. It's self explanatory. Just look at it. That's your diagram. Bolt torque is 35 LB FT.

    "I was told"

It's one of the stupidest phrases in the automotive world and perhaps anywhere else. I translate it to mean "I'm an ignorant idiot" when I hear someone say it or see it in type.

Crossover Tube and Valve Spring Pressure Questions

Here's the thing. There's ALWAYS better cam choices. Know what I mean? Somebody somewhere will always say that and to some extent, it's true, I guess. But here's my argument on that. If you already HAVE one or have one ordered, there is no better cam choice. Unless it's so badly mismatched that...

Valiant -64 7.25 rear spider gears do not fit

And that's how they fail. They get a lot of space between the gears and that slop allows the gears to get just enough of a "running start" that they will snap a tooth off. Then another and another until the small pinions are stripped. Just happened to mine about the first of the year. A friend...
