Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

Thanks everyone for your input. I will look into making a spacer out of the phenolic sheet material. By the way...I didn't come up with the wood spacer idea on my own. I read about it on this and other sites. Many reputable companies sell manufactured wooden spacers (see for example...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

Thanks...I'll check out the sending unit to see if I'm set up for a return line...i've read that that can help. That would also help keep the fuel line cool while the engine is running since fuel would be flowing through it pretty much constantly ... when the carb bowl is full and the carb...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

For now I insulated a portion the line instead of rerouting it. Right now the butterfly is wired open to minimize manifold heat (i.e. let it escape out the exhaust pipe).

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

So far here is what I have done to solve the heat soak... 1) Since I couldn't find a spacer for my 1 barrel carter carb I made my own thermal carburetor spacer out of 1/4 " plywood by tracing the existing gasket onto the plywood to duplicate the gasket shape including all holes and notches...

Slant Six / Carter BBS Heat Soak

Hello all. I'm having heat soak issues with my Carter BBS on my 225 slant six (the fuel in my carb and stock metal fuel line is boiling from heat build up about 10 minutes after engine shut off when the hood is closed). I plan to do the following to resolve it... 1 - Reroute the fuel line...

    carter bbs adjustment?

The valve in the exhaust manifold controls manifold heat. It has a spring that is supposed to close the valve (turn clockwise) when it's cold which puts more heat in the manifolds (intake and exhaust) and the carb, and opens the valve (turn counter clockwise) when warm for normal operation. If...

Anyone interested in rewelding it for me?Not sure if it can be welded in place or if the k member would need to be removed to do it - i have a slant six so there is a lot of room around the steering box . installing steering column 66 dart

Hello I'm in the process of installing a steering column on my 1966 dart. It looks like a pretty easy job but there's 1 thing I have a question about. I have an automatic transmission on the tree. So there is a linkage lever at the end of column. I need to know how to remove the linkage arm to...

Replacing steering column on 66 Dart - questions

Yeah...I'm replacing a 66 column with another 66 column -- automatic shift on the tree. And the new one has a seal...my old one was not sealed well. I know the 63 and 64 automatics were push-button -- I used to have a 63 valiant signet 200 convert automatic with push-button...and the front...

Replacing steering column on 66 Dart - questions

Thanks for the info on the coupling. The coupling box is pretty tight which is why I didn't even realize what was in it (the coupling), so it appears to be in good shape. That's good news!

Replacing steering column on 66 Dart - questions

It looks like both ends of the column have a master spline -- where steering wheel attaches and where end of shaft connects to steering box. Now I'm not sure how to center the steering wheel. I guess alignment is only way?

Replacing steering column on 66 Dart - questions

Hello, I'm replacing the steering column on my 66 Dart 270 Convertible and want to make sure I do it right. Looks to be a fairly simple job, but I've never done it before. A couple questions... 1. Should I lube anything while I'm at it and if so how/where? 2. There is a square-ish box...
