    71 Duster carpet 4 speed

I just did mine in my '72 Duster last weekend. I picked up a Walnut Hollow hot knife on ebay-it's a glorified soldering iron with screw in #11 xacto blades. Doesn't look like much and I was expecting to be disappointed but on the contrary, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't want to just cut...

    Underbody paint advice needed

Dynamat and spray-on bed liner? Sounds heavy. And not in a Marty McFly/Doc Brown sorta way. When I did mine I painted all the structural parts (frame rails, etc.) and undercoated the sheet metal. Overspray was had but it's a black car so I didn't have a problem with that.

    1972 340 testing by Nick

I went with TTIs because the 340 I finally got didn't come with exhaust manifolds at all. My choice was paying a small fortune for stock 340 manifolds or paying a small fortune for shorty headers.

    Fuel tank sending unit

1970-71 Dusters and 1971 Demons had the option for the "Rallye" dash seen in 1967-69 Barracudas. Discontinued for 1972. Photo is my '72 Duster with a Rallye dash, just because I like it better:

    Headliner Install Question

I cut the channel back about an inch from the end of the bow and I still had to cut it more on some of them while putting it in, so be prepared for that.

    Mine's a 5 hp 20 gallon roll-around that does the job.

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

Hit a milestone moment on this yesterday (Tuesday) and that's justification enough for an update on The Progress So Far: Been working pretty steady on lil' Taz when I have the time and while most of it hasn't been photo worthy plenty got done. One of the biggies was replacing the lower control...

Anybody receive seat covers from Legendary or Classic Industries lately?

Bumped for an update-mine showed up Monday the 11th, just shy of 2 months earlier than anticipated.

    72 Demon sails

That cardboard isn't (or shouldn't be) glued down solid-a part of it is not. The end of the clip slides under the area that is not glued. (edit) To pile on: The cardboard glued to the back of the sail should be a sort of ring shape. The clip goes in the hole in the 'ring' and under it where it...

AMD versus Goodmark quarter panel skins.

Had the same issue with mine when I replaced them around 2000. I used a chisel and carefully hammered the line into the panel one half inch at a time. Time consuming but it did the job.

    Your first mopar...?

No pics because this predates digital photography but the first car I bought with my money was a '73 Challenger-318 slapstik, red with B&W interior and white vinyl top. $100. The PO drove it out of coolant and cooked the 318. Dropped a 360 smog motor in it and promptly beat the hell out of it...

    AMD Duster Fenders?

Mine showed up in mid December and I've only dry fitted them with the doors off and they seem fine. I'll know more once the doors are back on but I don't foresee having issues with them. The only issue I have is there will never be another set for '72 only available (from AMD anyway) so I have...

    Under dash help..

I've only stripped about a dozen A Bodies over the years but I have never seen anything in the "red circled area". Not sure if anything ever did go there but there's nothing in my '72 Duster. The play in the column plate to firewall is there so you can line up the steering shaft to the...

How many of your personal cars ended up in junkyards?

Most of them. I drive them into the ground. The last one was a '96 Grand Prix. Touched 300,000 miles when the overheating issues and the rotten rear frame rails became chronic. Wasn't going to keep fixing it and didn't think it worth anyone else's time to either. The "Black Crow's" last day:

    Plastic model kit

It's not new tooled. It's a long overdue repop of the MPC molds with new decals. I'm looking forward to bashing the body & interior tub with the chassis and driveline of the AMT '71 Duster.

    Duster windshield removal/replacement

It's around 4AM here and I'm winding down for bedtime at 5 (I work nights-up at 1PM to punch in at 3) by surfing the discussions about window molding clips for my '72 Duster and came upon this video. Promptly dropped what I was doing, marched past that sink full of dishes I was washing and...

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

With Gibson shut down for the holidays I get some serious shop time and here's how the year ends. Headliner is in: There's still some shine on there from the heat gun and the sails still need some work-I'll wrap those up when the trim parts are in so I know just how much is exposed. And...

    Avoid this vendor!

I would actually rather use ebay because of scenarios like this. They have been very very good over the years about compensating me in the few times a seller has failed in any manner. They have access to all communications and information and always resolve any issue in 3 days. Never lost a...

Thanks for that. It's far from concours quality but it was never meant to be more than a daily driver. So, to catch up because it's been a while since I did here: The shell is painted, buffed and reassembly is underway (the tail lights are just set in place). Sound deadener is in and I...

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

I have both but the OD is going in it. My daily commute is 24 miles down I90 at 80 MPH so anything I can do to make it easier will help. The standard 4 speed can go in when I feel the need to play. The bellhousing is opened up about 3/32" to fit the smaller bearing retainer I picked up for it so...

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

Thanks all. There is progress but much of it is in support-namely, a blast cabinet I picked up on ebay for refurbishing hardware. It's assembled and I finished last weekend with sealing up the gaps and seams giving it the week to set up. Meanwhile the flooring and carpet is in. Short term goal...

    What's up with legendary interiors?

I tried to log in earlier this week to double check the rear seat covers I had on my wish list and to see if there was an update on my front seat vinyl and the log in option is gone. Emailed them to ask what was up and the response was they "updated" the website and all accounts have been...

I HAVE TO PUT THIS OUT THERE

That mixing cup would have to be so far off to make anything remotely like this happen and it seems you would notice that while spraying. The only thing that rings a bell with this issue is someone I knew using mil-spec epoxy paint by mixing the paint and going straight into the booth to spray...

    1971 DEMON......4 OR 6 ROOF BOWS?

I'm going with a 6 bow in my '72 Duster. Not that it's original-there was no cloth headliner available in '72, but because it seems like there would be an awful lot of cloth between 4 bows. I like the idea that 6 bows would make it look tighter.

Center of balance on a Rotisserie

This is personal preference but this is how my stripped out shell lined up. It was a tad bottom heavy but I wanted it that way-I did not want this to get away from me while I was rotating it and have the roof slam into the steel connector across the bottom because it wasn't high enough to clear...
