Ship hit bridge, bridge crashes into water

Yep, we were taught it in our bridge design class.

Ship hit bridge, bridge crashes into water

I don't expect it to stand up to an impact like that either, but how quickly the entire thing came down was kind of a surprise to me. Does anybody remember the Tacoma Narrows bridge failure in the 40's? It sure seems to have been built better than the more modern day one. It still failed...

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

If it's really 7.5:1, I guess it's time for a turbo!! I was told they were TRW 10:1 flat tops. I'm kind of thinking they just tossed whatever parts they had together. It's a 69 block from a Newport with LY rods, the trans was a 73 727 from a Charger with a 3600 stall converter, the heads...

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

I can't find it now, but I believe I read so.ething that said stock pistons on the base 440 were .090 in the hole and the HP 440s were closer to .020 in the hole. It's hard to tell from a borescope picture, but mine do look more than 90 thou down.

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

Was 8 to 1 even an option in 69? When I was looking before, I thought 80 thou was the furthest down they would be with a stock piston. I have no idea on the bottom end details other than it's a 69 block, forged crank and LY rods. It runs great and pulls hard so I never worried about it...

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

I don't think so, but hard to tell. That carbon is soft too, my borescope camera was leaving trails in it. Lol

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

Actually, looking at that pic, either the piston isn't sitting parallel to the deck, or I have a ton of carbon on that one side! Might run some Seafoam through this once its back together and running!

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was a certain feature X distance from the deck surface that could be used as reference. I can check the head at least. The pistons are a good bit further in the hole than they should be for a stock bottom end, so I have no idea what the bottom end is...

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

Your way is probably more accurate, but I really didn't want to pull the heads. My headers are a nightmare to deal with on this thing.

Figuring out how much heads have been cut?

I picked up a new Performer RPM intake and when I tried to install it, the bolts holes were all off 1/2 a hole in height. The M1 that came with the engine ended up going back on, which was also a challenge to get the bolts started, but eventually they all fit. I am assuming since the new...

    73+ Centerlink Dimensions

I think you're right. At least he's giving me my money back, and I found what I think is the right one on ebay.

    73+ Centerlink Dimensions

That's what I thought. He must have given me a B body one by accident then. The hunt goes on for a local one.

    73+ Centerlink Dimensions

Does anyone happen to have a 73+ centerlink laying around that could snag a few measurments for me? I bought one and the guy says it's from a 1973, but when I went to install it, it's about 2" longer than my old one. The outer tie rod holes are 24.5" apart, whereas my1972 one is 22 about an...

    Some snags with my conversion

.145 is within spec, isn't it, wasn't it .120-.160? I wanna say mine was about the same as yours. You need to leave a gap for when the clutch disc wears and the pressure plate fingers stick out more, but too big of a gap I think results in the clutch pedal needing to be pushed down further...

    AFTERMARKET SHIFTER HANDLES

Brewers bought Gunslingers and no longer sells that adapter. However, if you contact them, they will send you pictures of it next to a tape measure to figure out how to make your own. I might still have the pictures on my phone somewhere, but I ended up getting an A body console shifter, so...

Hellwig Front Sway Bar- End Link Spacer Length

I could probably trim my bolts a little too, there is a lot of thread sticking out. Easy modification to do, trimming the spacers, just surprised I had to do it.

Hellwig Front Sway Bar- End Link Spacer Length

I had to cut the spacer that came with mine into very short pieces to get the proper angle on the sway bar. 73+ style, but I have QA1 control arms, very similar mounting location, but it is a little different.

    Guns, Dogs and Blades QnA

I have a place like that about 90 minutes from my house. It has a good variety of everything there, and you are your own RO. It's worth the drive for sure.

    Some snags with my conversion

Mine was sloppy too, I think I had it lifted most of the way up when I torqued everything down. Glad to hear it was nothing major. Need to find an old 833 input shaft to keep around for next time!

    Guns, Dogs and Blades QnA

The outdoor one close to my house is like that too. They require a 3 second pause between shots or you get yelled at. Horrible place to shoot pistol.

    Some snags with my conversion

Check the runout between crank centerline and the hole in bellhousing. Maybe you need some offset bushings to move it slightly.

    Some snags with my conversion

I can't remember, maybe someone else will chime in. Or measure the ones you have. 7/16 sounds right, but I'm not 100% positive.

The second pic with the rusty ones look correct. Make sure you have them orientated properly.

    Some snags with my conversion

Grab some longer trans to bellhousing bolts and cut the heads off. Then screw them in and use as alignment dowels.

    Towing experts?

I honestly, the first thing I would do with a single axle trailer is ditch the factory tires and get some decent ones on it. Some Carlisle or Goodyear Endurance. Camper tires are paper thin and not the best. The ones that came on mine, weren't even rated to hold GVW of my camper.

    Towing experts?

I used to tow a 23 foot dual axle camper with my Ram, and now tow a 28 foot camper with it. I would say you would want at least something for sway control, the wind (and passing semi trucks) can and will move that camper all around behind you. In ideal conditions, I wouldn't think you need...
