    LD340 vs other intakes

I used a 360 with Holley Strip Dominator, unported LAX heads, around 255*@.050 flat tappet cam in a 3,540+ lb car. BUT.....it had 4.86 gears, 30x9" tires and a converter that actually flashed to 4900-5400 rpm, depending on the weather. Footbraked from 3-3500 rpm, stayed well above flash thru the...

    Oil Pick up tube

Looks like a Milodon small block. But you'll have to determine the part # based on the sump depth of the pan being used. If the pan is not Milodon, you'll have to do some careful measuring as they have 5 qt. (OEM), 7 qt. & 8 qt. pans with center (front) sumps & check internal clearances. At...

    Rear shackle hanger bushing question

You can also consider Prothane 4-801-BL for 7/8" applications. They are made out of polyurethane, firmer and more durable than plain Chinese rubber. Summit has 1" also. For Moog, confirm the quantity you get. It seems like some listings aren't clear on that.

    Leaf spring shackle angle

I wouldn't change the shackle orientation. If ever needed, I believe it's possible to slide the shackle out without removing the frame mounted hanger. Front hanger nut is on the inside also. Frame gets in the way with the nut facing out. I also recall seeing SS spring numbers stamped on the...

Adding Bronze Bushings to Ductile Iron Rockers

RAS installs bushings in the rockers using the original bore and adds smaller diameter shafts with thicker walls. I believe they correct the individual ratios in the process and include new 12 point adjusters and hold-downs in their package deal. Bushings are drilled and/or blocked in the rocker...

    TQ questions

I can offer a few bits of info but I never got Thermoquads figured out for my purposes. The 9811 is an aftermarket performance version that wasn't available as OEM on any cars or trucks. That "family" includes 9800, 9801, 9810 & 9811. Depending on the overall condition, that may be the best one...

    Broken Transmission

I've had crank bolts leave impressions through paint on the converter but no dents in the converter unless I had a major driveline breakage. Clearance is tight. However, that doesn't look like an OEM crank bolt and they definitely don't come with washers.

    low gearset 904?

It's easy to tell if it's a lock-up trans/converter. May have to get inside to confirm if it has the 2.74 low gear set. I don't think a lock-up will automatically :p have a low gear set but I'm not sure. Lock-ups started in the late '70's. JW Trans. in Rockledge, FL built my regular 904s with...

Is a Duster and Dart door swap possible?

Dart Sport will work. Regular Dodge Dart (i.e.: Swinger, Valiant, etc.) window contours are different than Duster/Demon/Dart Sport and won't fit the roof/a-pillar shape. 1973 doors have unique window mounting locations inside so if you need to replace the glass, you'll need 1973 glass. 1973...

    Rear shock difference

I tried Mopar stick drag shocks but they were still too soft for my auto combo. The harder a car leaves, the stiffer the shocks should be to control separation & wheel-hop, even with SS springs. I ended up going to Rancho myself. Ranchos use to be 3 or 5 way. Now they are 9-way. I don't have the...

It's gotta be just the right size, but it's a regular "cup", like a baby freeze plug, that is installed from the rear main end of the block and it bottoms out about 1/2 way to the oil pressure sending unit next to the distributor. Timing Chain

Like I said, tensioners have their place. It's not always possible to get a proper fitting, tight chain, and gear drives aren't legal in some classes. I'm also looking at it from a strictly race perspective. Just another part that can wear/break and any reduction in friction or wear is a plus...

    Timing Chain

If I knew how, I would have photo-shopped "Timing Chain Tensioner" in place of BAND-AID.:) Tensioners have their place, especially for high mileage applications. But adding friction and wear, however small, doesn't sound like a good idea.

Anyone ever see a shock do this?

Wearing on the inside. Maybe a good analogy would be - Like a piston in a cylinder bore, as they wear, clearances open up and the piston can actually "rock" a little more than it should. I suppose the shaft could get tweaked as well.
