340 8 bolt crank info wanted

Sounds like you are on the right track. I did just balance my 340 flywheel and mcleod pressure plate as a unit and was surprised at how much weight it took to correct it. If the flywheel and clutch doesn't change the vibration, it is possible they may have messed up the calculation for the...

340 8 bolt crank info wanted

Can you describe the balance issue. Have you pin pointed it to the engine?

340 8 bolt crank info wanted

If you have the heads off you can measure the stroke. That will give you some more info. Did it come with a balancer? You can tell if it was a externally balanced from that. Likely if it is an aftermarket steel crank it will be internally balanced

The research I did shows it has smaller exhaust valves than the HP version of the engine. And a different casting number on the heads.

    440 engine ID pad help

Please help me ID this engine. From my internet research looks like a 67 440 non-high perf engine with 0.020 oversize pistons. Any other info from the other symbols would be helpful. Thx

Western Mopar Madness - Who's attending

Who is attending the Western Mopar Madness event? It will be held at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta on July 27, 2019. Its a huge Western Canadian Car show with drag racing and a burnout competition too. Should be a great event. These two famous Hemi cars will be there too. Western...

    Anyone following UTG on YouTube?

Big fan of Tony for sure. His best article from Cars illustrated was "powershifting 101". No more grannyshifting a four speed for me after that! It was accelerator pedal to the floor all the way down the quarter mile and just bang through the gears. Good stuff!

    W2 Street Dominator

They have a passage under the plenum that flows engine coolant through. Common mod to these was to block that off with epoxy. It goes against the thoughts of keeping the intake cool for max HP.

    74 Duster Hood part number

to my knowledge no one is repoping 73-76 duster hoods, so it is most likely Oem. Is the outer skin aluminum perhaps? if so it may be from a feather duster.

Interior trim before or after glass install

Here's how mine is done. Rubber covers headliner and sail panel over rubber.

Interior trim before or after glass install

The headliner doesn't interfere it can be in or out. The big issue is the sail panels. I will try and post a few pictures up tonight that will be helpful to show where the inside rubber flats fit in relation to the sail panels. Does your car have a fold down rear seat? Mine does. I am not...

Interior trim before or after glass install

I just installed my back glass last week in my 74 duster. I had the interior installed but ended up having to remove the seat bottom, door panels, sail trim to get the window in, LOL. The rear glass is difficult to install as it is very tight in the opening. I was able to leave the rear...

How do you use the C-3053 burnishing tool?

I haven't seen the tool, but burnishing a bushing usually requires the tool to be drawn through the ID of the bushing with the bushing in place. It deforms the bushing into the bore. It sizes the ID as well as fits the OD to the bore. Thin walled bronze valve guides are fitted and sized this way.

    71 340 Swinger Special

Looking through some old photos, I found a picture of what I think is a 71 340 swinger special. The photo was taken in the late 80's at the second annual Southey Mopar Muscle Meet. I would assume it was a Crestview car as Southey, Saskatchewan is 50km from the Crestview dealership. Looks to...

Someone help a newby with headliner questions?

The slits just fold together to fit the contour of the roof. The folds overlap. Thats how the factory did it. You won't notice any gaps.

1972 Canadian H-Code 340 Dart Swinger Special Resto - Finally started!

Cliff Glad you enjoyed the video. Well looks like that one is accounted for! I live in Whitecourt but grew up in Regina (not too far from Crestview Chrysler). A friend of mine here in Whitecourt actually owned one back in the late 70's early 80's. Although at that time it was just another...

1972 Canadian H-Code 340 Dart Swinger Special Resto - Finally started!

If you are looking for another real 72 340 Dart there was one in mission BC I saw back in 2001. at that time I assumed it was a vin mistake because everyone knew they never made a 340 dart in 1972, lol. Obviously we know different now! I went to look at an FM3 1970 340 duster he had. The...
