We do have lots of classes like this, mostly radial tire classes, ultra, x275, etc, etc, and they are pretty costly to be competitive in but there could be more restrictive rules to bring the costs down.
But he is talking about setting some rules weight, engine size, etc and then run heads up. When you have limitations costs can be controlled somewhat and the best tuner and driver usually win.

I run a GMC 1500 crew cab has an 11,000 pound tow capacity, I pull my 20' v nose enclosed car hauler with my Cuda in it all over the place with no problems. I did add a brake controller for the trailer other than that its a stock truck with the 218,000a miles. No issues what so ever.
