    "Something in the Orange"

picked little dude up from kindergarten Tuesday with orange car. I think I got some dad points on that one. AND then the rain came back. Looks like at least a week of it so…. It looks like the bolt to the turn signal lever had worked itself out a skosch and was making contact with the back of...

    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

Small crane mod to a hitch receiver. Works on gravel, hills, and is very adjustable. Breaks down into two parts; stores small and portable. The counterbalance is prolly over 4000# however! $90 Craigslist find when I finally gave up on using trees.

    "Something in the Orange"

Just got back in from taking it up the Wynoochee, back down the Wishkaw, and back up the Chehalis with my daughter. She slept most of the way. It sounds and feels great! I often thought that circuit would be a lot of fun in orange car but must admit it’s better with one that’s much tighter w/...

Thinking of moving to Florida in the next year

What do you and your family like to do for recreation in southern Oregon? What are you planning to replace that with in central Florida? Are your assets part of a home owners association now? What is your tolerance for such governance?

    "Something in the Orange"

Took it out a couple times that we had sunshine in March. I had a rear shock fail and acquired an electrical gremlin mystery to unravel. I think that I found the new issue (broken ground on my aftermarket voltage meter and a burnt brush assembly in my alternator). Taking the opportunity to do...

    Stock Market

I picked up some of the more tangible kind when both kids were born. Jeez, we play with it, talk about value, and learn about money together. All the while it’s ticking northbound at around 12% a year. (16.5% here just lately) The Chinese are not buying Concourse grade Barracudas to hedge...

Jumped into the hole last week. A couple stocks close to buy points. Hanging onto my IAUM just in case….. One little maneuver I use for long downward skids is move from riskier assets to a stable value fund to preserve capital. They are only available in your tax deferred retirement accounts...

Short to ground in my alternator?

If that is one of the non conducive washers, then… Would you reckon that little plastic collar under there would also be there to keep the field from contacting the body? I can’t tell if it’s melted or broken but it seems some of it is missing. Are y’all aware of where one might find a new one?

Short to ground in my alternator?

The multimeter shows 0 on every range except 200 or 200M when the leads are x’d. I get 00.1 or 00.9 respectively.

Short to ground in my alternator?

Well there was “an event”! It blew a 20A fuse, both brake light bulbs, and my ballast resistor a couple drives ago. That led me to chase down that horn short once and for all. Even took out the front seat and prepared for a fight! Replaced the bulbs, resistor, and up’d the amperage of that...
