    Cooler intake manifold

Upto a few weeks back I've been daily driving my '62 NY wagon (413ci) with blocked heatriser port in the intake. Temps were around 40-45F. The car would start to run and idle rough and stall at slow speeds after a few minutes of driving... Why? The carb's idle-circuit was freezing up. Frost was...

    25 year old laptop---still works!!

My collection of old 'crap' machines range from a Videopac 2000, Commodore64, Amiga500 and a small number of old Apple Macs after that.

    Intermittent Misfire

As a test with the engine running at idle, squeeze the PVC-hose shut for a moment. See if the miss disappears. Idle will usually improve while doing this nonetheless. Could be a lean mixture, or one or two cylinders getting a lean-mixture. Perhaps the PCV-system host is connected wrong, or...

Is the 383 a better engine, or does the 440 just have more displacement?

    I'll take a 400-block over a 383 or 440 any time of the day.

    crypto currency investing, anyone?

The +3.41 is how much the value has changed since the trading day-opening. Generally, you hold stocks (regular ones) just as long as you believe in the succes of the company behind it. If you just want to day-trade, or buy/sell on every change in the market-price .. well good luck, it will...

Best torsion bar for a Hemi

I have daily driven my '73 Dart with 1" torsion bars and a 318/360 under the hood. Currently have 1.08" bars. FORGET the "autocross / roadracing" term. It comes from 'outdated' Mopar-literature. IMO, 0.9" to 1" bars should have been stock from the factory in any A-body with a V8.

    Engine Vibration 3k RPM

If the engine really was not balanced before assembly.... ...with 8 KB-pistons roughly 150grams lighter than the stock pistons, there's some significant unbalanced weight flinging around in the engine now... I think you should be able to feel that by just putting your hand on the engine while...

Torque Converter? Where am I at? What is compromised?

My 2 cents; Don't listen to dedicated 'dragracers' too much. They usually don't care at all for streetmanners. Driving around with a loose convertor on the street is like your transmission is filled to the top with butter. Feels like a sloppy turd if you want to just go for an easy drive. Big...

    More Problems After Suspension Rebuild

Any sharp edges the bushing is in contact with? That will surely dig into the material easily. Those big washers look completely flat. I would think dished washers like used by the factory will be friendlier on the bushings. But I've also seen these dished washers installed backwards, to limit...

My car keeps over heating when I’m driving

Has the cam been installed correctly/degreed? What's the timing advance set at? Vacuum advance hooked up? Fan rotating the wrong way? Properly burped the system? Is the radiator top still the highest point in the cooling system?

    Driveshaft length tolerances +/-?

You need enough play to be able to clear the rear yoke when installing/removing the driveshaft (with the car at normal ride height). And that's roughly about an inch. Too short of a driveshaft can cause vibrations easier as the transmission yoke is a little bit further out of the bearing in the...

I was on the Slant 6 forum, but now...

If you really plan on keeping the 2-barrel carb, headers are of no real use and would make the install quite a bit more difficult in an A-body. But at the same time... keeping that 2-barrel means you will be leaving a lot on the table...!

My transmission seems to be slipping...torque converter??

No one picks up on this but a misaligned pushbutton-system can cause funny things too. That, and the neglected in hooking up the throttle pressure lever awhile ago it's not surprising the trans is acting up.

413 cylinder heads... are these toast??

Drop them in a large tub with citric acid (safe) to get rid of the rust to help the machineshop out if you want. I tend to think it looks way worse than it is, but a different pair of heads can be found everywhere.

Any down sides of going Borgeson vs Firm Feel?

I daily drive a '73 Dart with Borgeson P/S-box. One thing to consider is the weight(loss) of the Borg-box. It's quite a bit lighter than the bulkcarrier-anchor stock unit. I had to use 2 hands to remove the old worn PS-box, while I could install the Borg-unit with one hand.

    Rough-idling 360, can't figure it out!

Hook up a vacuum gauge and consider getting an AFR-gauge to see what is actually happening with your mixture. You can pinch the pcv-hose closed as a quick check. Most engines will run a little smoother that way, but if your pcv-valve is shot it will create a larger vacuumleak.

    Unhappy 360 (At idle)

Welcome. Clamp the rubber PCV-line closed when idling as a test. Idle speed will most likely drop and get a bit steadier. Could be the PCV is causing a slight lean condition that causes an occassional misfire.

Flickering head lights, what am I missing

Headlights behind a relay doesn't fix them flickering. The flickering comes from twitchy VR operation and low power-output from the alternator. Stock alts are known for that. Install a newer (80s/90s) kind of alternator with built-in VR and your flickering is gone.

Not if you "bore it to the max" as mentioned. You never bore for cubic inches. You bore to get rid of wear. Boring removes rigidity from the cilinders.
