Yes 741 case, and yes axles fit

Ok counted teeth on ring gear (43), counted teeth on pinion (12) divided and its 3.58. That IS the number stamped on ring gear. I have just never heard of 3.58 gears.

I acquired a 8 3/4 center section out of a Dodge truck, 741 open and was told 355 gears. I counted the teeth on ring gear and pinion gear and came up with 3.91. The number stamped on the ring gear is 3.58. Just a little confused. What is proper way to determine EXACT ratio. Thanks for any help.

Does anybody happen to have the Oct. 2001 issue of Mopar Muscle Magazine? Going to bush my A833 tranny and is a great article in that issue on that. Would be cool to take it with me to my machinist buddy for reference.

Ok, had a machinist bore the housing to 4.80 and turned the retainer down to 4.80 and is a perfect FIT!!
