    Random pictures thread

Nice picture. Back in the 60's I was a crew member on an RC135 aircraft out of Eielsen AFB, near Fairbanks, Alaska. Our missions averaged 15 hours, wheels up to wheels down. The plane was so heavy with electronic equipment that we had to take off with very little fuel to safely get in the...

    Early A Buckets

Sorry Mike. I wasn't trying to sidestep the rules. I just thought he should at least have the knowledge of my seats in case he had a transport method that works for him. I've seen your comments toothers about selling only in the For Sale forum and I was being my customary airhead self. I...

Rick, Thanks for the response. Some surgery this morning and I am somewhat foggy. I will be calling you on a different day when I am functioning better. Jerry

    Wagon questions no complaints

Hello good people, I'm working on my 1963 Dodge Dart station wagon One question involves the tailgate belt weatherstrip. I'm puzzled about where it actually goes and what the installation procedures are. The part I got from you is GG-W130. Maybe I don't need it. The other issue. I used...

Good odd test equipment you never see anymore

I too would like to obtain a cylinder balance tester. I still don't trust insulated plug wire puller pliers. My slant has HEI conversion and my last HEI bite is still clear in my memory. Thanks, Jerry in Denver, Colorado

    Sound Deadener

Yep, I'm prepared for sticking quickly. I've done floors and it does stick well. Thecleaning of the ceiling is coming along. I sure like the early A bodies. Over the decades I've had 2 '63 Darts, 3 '66 Darts and one '72 Dart that I bought new.

    Sound Deadener

Thank you sir. I now have confidence that it'll stick and stay. By the way, the picture of your floor Fixmat installation went well and was well done. Jerry

    Sound Deadener

I read in this thread that you planned to install Killmat on your roof panel. One thing I would like to know is, in the heat in summer, does it stay in place? I have a box of the Kilmat and, left over from another project I have some Siless that looks almost the same. Cleaning the ceiling of...

    Gas mileage 225 Slant 6

Damned if I never considered this. I'm 14 years retired from a Colorado state vehicle emissions testing laboratory. This was not a state inspection site but rather research lab. I was licensed to perform and issue valid inspection certificates, however this was done only when lab testing...

    Hub centric

Thanks to all for setting my mind at ease. I went through thinking about this years ago and my conclusion was the same then. Cone shaped lug nuts and lug holes centers fine if the wheel was manufactured properly. RRR, some years ago I used a set of aluminum slots and I thought then about the...

    Hub centric

I've been looking at the Mopar Action magazine article. I understand the concept but when the tapered seat lugnuts are torqued on the wheel, what would a ring accomplish. Seems to me that the ring could do nothing since the lugs and tapered lugnuts hold the wheel solid on the hub or axle...

    Wagon quarter glass seals--again

If I get a successful front end alignment from a local shop I'll be staring at a headliner install, possibly/probably by a local upholstery shop. The quarter glass and windshield must come out to expose the pinchwelds over which the edges of the headliner are attached. From Layson's I...

    Dog attacks

We too have had many many cats over the past 35 years. In our experience, if the cat is treated respectfully and with kindness there will be no aggression at all. We've never experienced any aggression at all. "Not once" as RRR said.I would not want to deal with a cat that I have seriously...

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

I'll just figure it out. My wagon spare is a big bolt circle 14" mopar wheel. When I take the stands out I'll be able to get to the spare and check fit. Why do we do this stuff?

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

Oh rats!! I didn't know about 13 inch wheels having smaller poverty caps. Any old poverty caps are sorta rare so I have an additional hunt coming up. I much prefer steel wheels with original caps. I disliked poverty caps when I was a kid. Spinner wheel covers were the hot items in the...

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

Thanks for the info on poverty cap diameters. The caps that came on mmy Dart were on the13 inch wheels and look small to me, but I've been looking at the poverty caps on my Ford wheels. I'm going to try my poverty caps on the ford wheels. Not optimistic. I have many Chevy poverty caps that...

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

I just ordered studs that are .005 larger knurl diameter, 3 inch length. Sounds like I may not need to shorten them to clear my dog dish caps. Another time that this site has been very helpful. Thanks all, Jerry

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

Thanks for the response. The stud did not protrude at all. With the nut tightened on the wheel I could look into the nut and see three to five threads. This bothers me. My idea is to get new studs of the correct, or at least close, knurl diameter. The stud I removed from the rotor measures...

    Wheel stud knurl diameters

3 or 4 years ago I installed a disc brake kit on my '63 Dart Wagon, /6 and three on the column. The rotors are about 11/16 thick at the stud mounting point and with steel wheels the stud threads extend well under an inch from the wheel mounting surface. With the steelwheel (14x6 from a Ford...

    Fuel Mileage booster’s

I have been feeling that the device may have given the ecm a rich condition in order to make it drive the fuel delivery lean. Silly idea since the ecm runs things about as well as possible. Emissions rules in the ecm programming doesn't give up much fuel efficiency.

    Fuel Mileage booster’s

I'm suspicious too. The fuel/spark control systems of today are pretty well programmed to get most of the energy from the fuel into motion. There is probably some loss from emissions calibration but 55% improvement seems impossible. Even 10% is, to me, very unlikely. Jerry

Which Muscular Mopar Under $60,000 Would You Choose for Your Dream Garage?

I too am a 71 72 Satellite guy. 72 for me 'cause I like the tail lights. Don't care about drivetrain. Weird but a slant 6 with 4 speed. A split exhaust with glasspacks. Love that tone. Kinda loud but what the heck. My current 63 Dart wagon has the split/glasspacks. Yep, kinda loud and...

    Manual steer tight near locks

Thanks 72blu. It does appear that there is some other problem that I hope I find with the car in the air. If nothing is obvious to me it'll be time for younger eyes. I turn 77 this month and I notice some low-light issues and body creaking these days. Jerry

    Manual steer tight near locks

When I had the alignment done, three or four years ago, the tech told me he got a bit over one degree of positive caster, so it sounds like I'll be getting the tires off the ground to find how that feels. I'm not a front end tech and I appreciate the onfo about the tires raising the car on...

    Manual steer tight near locks

"63 Dart wagon manual steering. When trying to turn to the left or right lock, the effort required seems to quickly increase--a lot. It has been a few years since I rebuilt the front susension and steering and I'm not familiar with the details that front end guys know. I did install disc...

    Who drinks Malt Liquor?

I haven't had a Mickeys in years but I liked the light skunky taste. I can only drink gluten free (GF) beer for many years now and haven't found any skunky GF beer. Jerry
