I need help programming my new MSD 6AL 2

Hey everyone, I have not been here in FABO for a long time. Anyway I purchased and installed a new MSD 6AL 2 programmable box in my Duster. I'm having a problem with writing programs with the MSD software that came with the new box. The software loaded into my laptop, no problem and its easy to...

    Camshaft to Small???

You did not mention stall speed or gear ratio. You did say daily street motor and it needs good vacuum for the brakes. You also did not say if its zero decked or how far down the pistons are from the deck a TDC or what size chambers the heads have so I'll assume the block was not decked and you...

    42RH / A-500 in a Duster with pictures.

Sorry Bro, I can't. I relocated from Connecticut to North Carolina about a year and a half ago and currently don't have a garage or shop to work in. Back up north I had a fully equipped four car garage and was fabricating all kinds of things for people and their cars. Hopefully I'll be putting...

    Mechanical or electrical fuel pump

Looks like we've reached a conclusion. Either one will work, it's just a matter of preference.

    Mechanical or electrical fuel pump

Sounds like you have some other problem. Mechanical pump with a Holley on mine and I rarely ever have to crank it for more than three seconds even if I have not started it in a month.

    BB to /6 904

It can be done. You will need a JW Ultrabell bellhousing for 904 to big block. To use it you have to cut the original bellhousing off and the JW bellhousing bolts on top of the pump using longer bolts. I very much doubt the /6 904 will hold up for long behind even a mild big block though. The...

    Mechanical or electrical fuel pump

I always use mechanical pumps unless I have no choice. I prefer the simplicity and most of all the silence of a mechanical pump. I have a 440 in my Gold Duster. Not sure about how much power it has but it weighs 3500# with me in it and has run a best of 7.06 @ 96 in the 1/8 mile and 11.125 @ 121...

    8.8 swap

There is a drawback to doing that. The further in towards the carrier you cut and weld, the more the warpage will effect how far the axle bearing end of the tube moves. As far as using the axle as a jig, that's not going to do a very good job either. If you get a chance try sliding an axle in...

72 Demon Power Steering Gearbox/Coupler Help...?

Mine is power steering. That's why if you do go with the U-joint setup Its best to call the company you're getting it from and make sure you're getting the right one. I don't remember the spline count and not all the steering shafts are the same as well. I wound up sending pictures of what I had...

72 Demon Power Steering Gearbox/Coupler Help...?

Call Flaming River industries. The factory coupler would not clear the headers on my big block Duster so I bought a nice stainless steel U-joint coupler from them. Its best to call them directly because there are variations in what came on these cars as far as parts like steering shafts etc...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

Yup, I've been involved with the automotive hobby for 40 years and have worked at three different performance/racing parts manufacturers. Nothing beats OEM parts for quality and fit. I had considered using a factory front disc setup. The only reason I did not was because I don't like the wider...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

I'll post what happens. I have to see it through, these brakes were not cheap, altogether they were $1200 not including all the lines, fittings and other small parts I had to buy to get the system in. I have to say I'm disappointed with the tech support I've gotten from Wilwood. I've talked to a...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

That's good helpful info. I will try to locate the tool to measure the actual clamping pressure exerted by the calipers. About the 7/8 bore not having enough volume to fill all those pistons at the calipers; Wilwood recommended going to the 7/8 bore to get more pressure to the calipers with less...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

Also I forgot to mention when I swapped from the Wilwood 7/8" bore cylinder to the K car 7/8" bore cylinder it performed exactly the same.

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

That may be true on most OEM brake systems but I'd say at this point that its not an issue with the hydraulic portion of the brake system. Remember, I started out using two different Wilwood master cylinders. The first one was a 1" bore and it was so bad the car was not drivable. The next one...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

Yeah I forgot about those cars. That's those mid sized boxy looking luxury cars with the super fragile rear axle. Well anyway I know the fwd K car mc in my car is not a problem. I've seen plenty of other rwd cars with mc out of Daytonas and other fwd Mopars too. Could be that some fwd mc will...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

At this point I'd say for certain using the fwd mc is not a problem, at least the one I have. Mine is a K car mc.

What Is The Best Mini Starter?

I have an MSD starter. 440 with 11.5 to 1. Its been working without fail for two years. I have to agree with the other comments though. I had and old starter out of a 95 Ram van and compared them and the appeared to be identical except the MSD one has nice shiney red paint and an MSD decal on...

I need a small master cylinder with 7/8" bore

I have an update. I took the car out of storage a few weeks ago and got back on the problem. Bought a brake pressure gauge that screws into the bleeders and checked the pressure. Turns out there was still air in the lines despite repeated bleeding. I was getting 500 psi at the calipers and if I...

Would a hood scoop help my problem?

If I were doing it again I still would not go crazy looking for fire retardant or fire proof foam. Its not like you're building a car out of it, it's just not that much flammable material to worry about as far as I'm concerned. When it comes to fire prevention in my cars, I put lots of time into...

Would a hood scoop help my problem?

Looks good. I never gave any thought to fire retardant foam when I did my setup. I went to Home Depot and bought foam and used it. My only thought was to stop sucking hot air into the engine.

Would a hood scoop help my problem?

Here's another option that lets you skip the hood scoop. This is on my street car. The air cleaner is Spectra. I bought it from Summit. $120, it comes with one snorkel on it and another one in the box that you locate and weld on. It aluminum. To be honest its a little on the small side so it is...

Would a hood scoop help my problem?

You're welcome. Also "electric fuel pump was a typo. I meant electric water pump. I did not make any changes to the electrical system at all, the hood scoop setup made a big difference. I think its fairly simple. After the first run the air temp in the engine compartment goes way up and if...

Anyone going to Street car Takeover at Zmax June 24-25th?

Would a hood scoop help my problem?

I had a bracket car that had the same problem. No hood scoop, just an open element air cleaner. First run off the trailer would be 11.60s, then after that it would slow to 11.75-11.80s. I installed a hood scoop and a pan attached to the bottom of the air cleaner that sealed to the hood with foam...

Anyone going to Street car Takeover at Zmax June 24-25th?

I'm driving my 440 Duster there and hoping to get it into the 10s. Hopefully I'll see plenty of Mopars there! Zmax rarely runs events like this.

Cage welding? Holes in the roof?

Yup, same thing I do. Doing a cage or roll bar is one of those tasks where you don't want to charge in and get ahead of yourself. Planning and sequence are the keys to not getting stuck with welds that are a problem. I've never cut holes in or cut off a roof. I also have a mini TIG torch by Weld...
