    63 Dart overheating issue

I am not an expert: I have my '64 225 set to 2.5 BTDC at a 550rpm at warmed up idle. Also have a 6 Blade fan, stock Modine radiator. I have had the gauge show hot but a laser thermometer showed proper temps. The problem was the electrical sender/wire and gauge.

    Running hot, I think.....

Try an extra ground wire from the block to fire wall. that worked for me on the same problem a few years back. Also I find that my 225/6 at correct idle just does not move enough air especially at long L.A. stops. After a lot of tests etc. I found that a big toe on the pedal [about 20-40 rpm]...

WTB - front and back window trim clips

Steve, Try : wwwrestorationspeciaties.com They have a catalog on line. I got some weatherstrip and those same clips for my '64 GT a couple of years ago. Mine were not listed by application so by hand drawn pic of the only one not rusted away, and phone calls; the correct ones were sent. So...

63-64 Dart Head Lite bucket spacer (eye brow)

Hello Efren, I see that you went full steam ahead with the eyebrow 'project.' I would be interested but, at the moment, I am searching for 'nicer' bezels to dress those moldings up! I even had the conceptual plan to take a poor shape sacrificial unit: Restore with body filler, make a fiber...

    Pcv screams!!

I think that the breather to air cleaner hose is a smog control idea to re-cycle fumes down the carb for burning. OK idea - otherwise; out the breather -through the firewall or hood into the vents and cab. But is ok for engine and I do not think has an effect on pcv. I did see that there is...

    Pcv screams!!

Valve hose to the carb base and breather to the air cleaner is correct on stock 1 & 2 barrel carbs. Do check/ replace hose and make sure the carb's hose nipple is not blocked. I recall that years ago I discovered a lot of oily black junk had over time collected. Now I rebuild my 1 barrel at...

Chrysler brings back the Dodge Dart

Looks like "changes" are already being made. I opened a Flag [in red] from 'Dart Club' a few days ago - intro 2014 Dart. A SRT packed car. I wished the styling would have 'spoken' "64 dart GT" That would have been 'too cool'

    Green Horn and it shows!

Slant Six distributor location is prone to accumulation of moisture and often builds up corrosion, and then just does not work. I changed over to a electronic ignition and change the cap and rotor once a year. Never had any problems since

    1965 Dart Turn Signal Switch?

I agree with Darter6. I have the straight pin squeeker and looked at the TS102. I'll get one soon. The wheel on the horn contact is very important! All the direct rubbing cannot be good on the steering wheel's contact ring . The price looks good too.

    help me!!!

Also check your power steering hose. It could be vibrating against inner fender. I used a zip tie and cured a perplexing noise [knocking - only when cold.] I then did notice the high pressure line also did slightly vibrate.

looking for somoeon or a shop that knows mopars really well.

This may sound somewhat basic; Check out your leaf springs and shocks. Long ago after about 25 years of use, I had my Dart's leaf springs re-sprung and added a leaf. Made a big difference in ride.

    Early A parts needed

I think I did see the light 'eyebrow' rubber reproduction for sale somewhere. I just cannot remember where. If you are still in need - I'll look through some back catalogs and contacts to come up with places for you to search.

Removal of rear and front windshield chrome trim

Did not see which Dart you have and what condition. On my '64 GT the rear window trim (4 piece) had about 20 clips which were screwed into the body. Most were rusted. The rear window and rubber had to come out first. Replaced new clips, rubber and new [used] glass the old decided to...

    Defroster Ducts and Vents

On my '64 The stuff falls in and gets blown through the heater/vent system. There are two plastic oval plugs on the firewall. These openings are for clean out access. Size a somewhat ridged extention hose to a shop vac and clean out by vaccuming. Also there are the vent drainage holes...

    Block in the radiator?

Here is the news: Cars need to be driven. Coolant, Oil ,and Running Temp keeps them alive. Sitting around for years gave it blocked coolant arteries. Take RedFish's advice along with an out of car radiator clean out / maybe a rod out to core [The crud from the block is pumped into the core...

Mopar A/C Tech in Los Angeles

One source is Leon Kaplin (?spelling?) KABC radio's MOTORMAN. He and his son have Lancer's Auto repair. They might work on it. If not, Leon is always giving referals on his radio show. I have never been to the shop but have used a referal heard on his show. One word of caution, BE Shure who...

64 Valiant Radiator leaking at top

Had the same to mine. I believe it was caused by over 300,000 miles of rushing flow from the top hose. It actually worn thin the metal of the tank's top, I was lucky to find a local shop that had a new top. But before that replacement, I [twice] made a 'patch' using J. B. Weld and...

    tune up help

Same sort of thing happened to mine but not as bad. Could not get a shake out at idle. Turned out to be a loose intake/exhaust nut - tightened = problem solved. The same also happens when the carb mount bolt needs a turn. Now I always check those first.

    Steering Wheel Refurbish

Thanks for the video link. Funny thing, I just figured the whole process out a couple of months ago and tried it on a back-up wheel I got on e-bay. I used a more flowing epoxy ; Devcon 2 ton in a double dispensing syringe as a top filler coat to the large putty repairs. It filled minor damage...

    225 running a bit warm!!!

With all this expert knowledge, I have to ask "youall" My '64 Dart 225 -auto trans runs right on mark (a on gauge) except those very hotandheavy traffic days. Climbs towards the out of normal on temp gauge and then cools down when a normal drive speed returns. 180 stat, upgraded to more blades...
