if autozone has it at one of their local hub stores, they can have in same day or next day. it normally only takes 2 to 3 business days if they have to order it directly from a vendor.

I had the same issue on my '69 dart. It all came down to a frayed wire on the engine side of the bulkhead connector. I just resoldered the wire to the connector, plugged it back in and voila! Fully running and charging system again. Good luck.

The directions make it sound a lot harder than it is. You can convert it and fill it yourself in about 20 minutes. In California the price of R134a freon has doubled over the past year so instead of $8 a can its $19 a can + $10 core.

The keys were changed on the dart already and on the house. The locksmith was going to come today to re-key the Honda. (a new tumbler was going to be $200.00) I've resorted to taking the coil wire out of the Dart and am now looking to move. Sigh.

Well... The thief from the robbery stole my car (the Honda) from my house last night. It was used in another robbery, in a pursuit with police and the crashed into a pole. The car is totaled and the yard wants $500. My employers refuse to even entertain the thought of helping to cover the costs...

Thank you for the condolences. I'll hopefully have the Dart back on the road by this weekend. The Dart is my daily driver as my Honda sits on the driveway and gathers dust.

In the set I had the ignition and doors were two separate keys. Then the trunk and the gas. I realize there's no way of getting around the gas cap. (shouldn't have mentioned the gas cap in the first place.) I was just wondering if I could get a set with the other 3 locks using the same key.

I just turned 35 two weeks ago and I drive my '69 dart all day every day. I also have a Honda that sits in the drive way until I have no other choice.

Check all the headlights, blinkers, etc. work. Wiring these things are not fun.

I actually work in the auto parts retail business and I, too recommend going to a dedicated alternator guy. The alternator was probably seizing thereby draining the battery. After 6 years I would replace the battery just for being so old. 3-5 years average on a traditional battery.

If you want an easy warranty the next time around, Autozone and other retail parts houses keep 1-wires on the shelf with lifetime warranties. When it goes bad just take it in and they give you another one.

Autozone offers one with no vehicle application. You just have to somehow know what you want. The part # is DL7140m. The box even says "GM 1-wire" on it. Just in case.

I've been having the same issues with my 69 dart /6 with a GM 7140 one wire alternator for the last few weeks. I keep coming up with the same exact readings. Now I have more precise spots to check thanks to you. I'll keep watching and post if I find an answer.
