    Best Brakes for Buck

I figure I will need to change the lower ball joints, simply because they never have been to my knowledge, and the car was sitting on jackstands for a few years in the back yard. Probably a good idea to replace as many joints/bearings as possoble. All th bushings are new poly units.

I think I will be heading out to the local Pull-A-Part this Saturday to see what I can find in the way of FMJ Spindles, brackets, calipers(for cores), and possibly rotors. Deff new hoses and lines, I will order the Dr. Diff adapter, and I'll try to find the 10.98" setup for now and upgrade to...

Thanks 69Mope for the parts info, and to all for their input. Oklacarcollecto, I knew you meant to use the remaned calipers, and I would too, but I was just thinking that if I am going to spend close to $400 for the parts, plus time going and pulling (which I could only do on a saturday and I...

    Best Brakes for Buck

I'm thinking FMJ spindles and brackets, but I just don't want to trust the used calipers and rotors. I may still look into the "at the wheel" kit from CPP and use the Dr. Diff adapters for the upper ball joints. ( since this will come with all new stuff already). My wheels are actually uni-lug...

I already have the 8.25 rear in my scamp, I was just thinking I may can use the disc setup from the rear of a liberty or cherokee. It looks like it will swap over with little modification.

    Best Brakes for Buck

Ok, so what about Dr. Diff ball joint adapters, and the spindles and hardware from a volare/aspen. Probably new calipers and rotors and of course pads for the aforementioned spindles. 11.75 adapters if I can't source these used, and then the rear set up from a liberty or cherokee with a 8.25...

    Best Brakes for Buck

Any concerns with running the Dr. Diff upper ball joint adapters? This is ok to run every day and some track time, or is this something like wheel adapters that really shouldn't be ran hard due to risk. $50 is cheap and though tubular uppers are %100 in the future, I think my stockers (that I...

http://www.classicperform.com/NewProducts/MoparBrakeKits/Mopar_Brake_Kits.htm You can check the above link for CPP online's mopar products. The kit for the upper control arms is what includes the lower ball joints, so I appologize for any confusion. It may be a little cheaper to source the...

BTW, thanks to all and especially to oklacarcolleco for sourcing the used stuff.

    Best Brakes for Buck

Sounds like the consensus is oem stuff. I just figured people who specailize in brakes could make something better, thats all. If the Oem stuff works better and cost less (or even close to the same with buying tubular uppers) then why go aftermarket anyway? By the way, CPP online has the disc...

    Best Brakes for Buck

Are these conversions ok for daily driving and some hard use? Or would it be better to go for a set of wilwood or SSBC conversion using the same factory Upper Control arm and spindle. I do have the 10" drums in the front. Just asking, because the last thing I want is for some body to slam on...

    Best Brakes for Buck

I will probably source the rear from a Jeep Liberty as some have the 8.25 rear and it appears to be a bolt on (with little modification for the parking brake). Any real world price figures? Numbers are helpfull. Thanks for the help so far, but like I said before no used 73 & up spindles around...

    Best Brakes for Buck

I have a 71 plymouth scamp with Small Bolt Pattern, and want to upgrade to the bigger (easier to find wheels for) bolt pattern while upgrading to discs. I want to spend as close to (or under) $1200 for the best bang. Aluminum or Iron, Single piston or 4, slotted or drilled, or plain. Just...

    1971 Scamp limited....

Sorry for the mis-info. They are spectra tanks which are really good, and they are still much cheaper around $200, but I'd say you got a really good deal on yours. I went with a later style tank on mine that didn't have the four vent tubes and saved a little $, but I still paid around $130 for mine.

    1971 Scamp limited....

For what it is worth, most people dont realize this, but if you go online to Autozone or O'reilly they do carry the 71 style fuel tanks and are made the exact same way that the $$$ ones are. I wish I had known before I replaced mine. BTW I do believe that they are manufactured in the USA which...

Hey guys, thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. It will be a slow December likely due to all the holiday things. Well, I think we did it! It has been a long time coming, but we made it to the top, and it should be all down hill from here on out. I have to admit that it will be slow during December as I will likely take it slow for the holidays with all the family get togethers and such, but a 14 hour...
