My 273 turned out to be a 318...what did I buy?

Make sure you insulate the master and lines from the header. The heat will expand the brake fluid and cause a hard pedal or brake drag. Or worse, loss of brakes.

    727 Difference inside

Transmission gurus, I have a Big block transmission from a motor home and one from a C body. I see on the MH one there are ribs on the tail shaft for strength, C body smooth. Are there any internal component strength difference between the two? I want to build one and sell the other with a 68...

    Help me choose a tire?

I did the trial and error on ours with some smaller used tires I have. It has new 235/60r14 in the front and they don't rub. I like the wide foot print look. I bought new 225/70r14 and did rub on turns so now I'm stuck with a pair of those. 255/60r15 on the back. I will be changing to 275/60...

    340 CYLINDER HEADS

Whew, great info. I have collected 8 3/4 centers with 2.92, 3.23, 3.55 and 3.91 over the years so I have a selection to choose from to see what runs better, lol. So a smaller cam works better with higher cyl pressure than a larger cam. ok. I will review all this as I proceed.

    340 CYLINDER HEADS

Thanks LJ67, not mixing up, just asking to be sure. I was figuring on keeping port flow up but I thought I would ask if there was a different thought about it anyway. A cruiser with torque when I wanted it.

    340 CYLINDER HEADS

Thanks AJ, I am trying yo digest the numbers. I was thinking a 268 type cam myself. Now looking at the aluminum head choices, 63cc looks ok now or the 65cc to lower pressure a little. This leads to what runner size. Do I get 170cc to keep up port velocity for torq on my stock 3.31 stroke or the...

    340 CYLINDER HEADS

It was what I chose for forged pistons at the time. I was looking at quench and saw with a closed chamber I would need a flat top piston if I were to run a closed chamber without crazy compression. I have open X heads but also looked at the Magnum heads I have too. Now I am looking into Aluminum...

    340 CYLINDER HEADS

Thanks AJ! Was that cam custom ground? With that cam and (60cc)10.7 compression you ran 87 octane with no pinging? Great. That must have to do with the Quench I was reading about. My 67 is rated at 2970lbs on the reg, plus 200(me). I,m looking for a strong 340 but not over the top and un...
