I'd start by obtaining a wiring diagram and a factory service manual (they have more extensive wiring diagrams). They are available for free online if you do a quick google search.

I used enamel hardener with the hammered Rustoleum paint on my roll cage. It made the paint quite a bit harder, shinier and it dried much quicker. No idea how it would do in the elements though. For that, I'd probably spring for some cheap 2k automotive grade stuff.

Be careful wiring your ignition using this diagram. The yellow wire is not correct. You don't want to run that to your starter relay. My '68 was wired that way when I got it and when I brought the RPMs up, it triggered the starter relay. No bueno.

The high flow cvf waterpumps used to be on Ebay for $50 but $100 on their website. I believe they're the same waterpump as what Edelbrock sells. I've had great luck with mine.
