Yeah, that's sounds like a better plan. I should be receiving my new float tomorrow.. Seeing I don't have a new seal I was thinking of making a seal out of cork material.. Not sure if you could order the seal by itself .. Thanks

Hey guys... just a little update, I got the HV pump on. Now warm at idle I'm 25 PSI , ( I'm also running 10W 40) The clacking noise at idle now seams to be alot better. I still have to go over the timing, I was rushed to take my son to hockey so just set it to the old marks I made on...

Hi Murray. Do you recall if the passenger side mount has a sleeve the slides the Mount before the bolt goes in? ( factory 1968 383S) the mount hole is much larger then the bolt. Thanks

I do remember the machinest calling me because he got the wrong set of bearings , so I brought a set back to speed shop and they ordered me a different set. I'll see if I have any paper work on that. Thanks guys

I ended up finding the paper work from the machine shop. Looks like they just polished the mains and rods.. It would have been nice if they would have stated the specs.

I guess that's a good place to start.

Possibility..I had the shortblock built 8 ish years ago. I've only put a few hundred miles since.. I can not remember exactly what he did with the mains and rod bearings.. I'll have dig out the receipts . Thanks

Is it possible to remove the oil pump without lifting engine? 1968 factory 383 with stock mounts and exhaust manifolds, Last one I did I had to lift engine 1968 big block Dart with Schumacher mounts and headers. Thanks
