Complete set of components. Exhaust and intake manifold, carb, new remfex gasket set, new Lokar kickdown linkage, all of the correct manifold hardware, air cleaner assembly with correct decal. I've decided to just keep my single barrel as is. I've been assembling these pieces and cleaning them...

    Slant six decals

I had a few vinyl decals made for me by a local shop. Very reasonable and I love the look. I'm sure it's "correct" for the vehicle, but I think it dresses the vehicle nicely. Funny. I was it traffic a week ago and a guy pulled up next to me and said he's never seen anyone advertise that they...

Offset pose problem for disc conversion?

I have a 1974 Duster with 10 inch drums up front. This spindle drum setup requires a 3 mm offset on the wheel. I have new wheels and they fit fine. However, now I want to convert to disc brakes. I am leaning toward the Magnum Force kit. Bottom line: will this offset wheel work with the discs???

    kits available for disc brakes

I have a 1974 Duster with a small bolt pattern (5 on 4") in a slant six car. The 10 inch drums up front do stop the car, but I think I want to invest in disc brakes for the front. I want to retain the lug bolt pattern and my wheels are cragar ss 15 inch front and back. I realize that parts...

1963 Dart convertible, rare and valuable?

I thought I'd seen somewhere here that the 1963 dart is rare and valuable. Is this true? I've found one and it's priced right and in fair shape. Just curious to see if this is plain Jane or more desirable version. Thanks.

    Hood paint problem

I like the blacked out hood on Dusters, so I decided to paint mine. Never painted before. I went to a local paint shop and told them I wanted Satin black. This is what turned out. I was hoping for more of a flatter sheen. This is a single stage paint. Could I carefully use sandpaper on...

    Reputable Mopar Engine Supplier/Builder

Time to start the conversion from /6 to V8. I've been searching the web for a very reputable engine supplier or builder--a bit overwhelming. I don't need a racing engine, just one that will give me a good thrill when I hit the accelerator. I would appreciate any advice on good engine...

    383 deal?

Found this on CL (http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pts/3153715015.html) Seems like an excellent deal. Is this an oddball engine or something? Is this a good deal? Don't know this engine, but want to put a V8 in my A-body.

Musings: Restoration = Money loss! (ALWAYS)

I’ve been buying cars and “restoring” them for years. The term restoration can be argued about too—that’s for another day. I enjoy working on cars and making them look new again. I gather most on this board have the same addiction. Luckily, my wife supports this passion (but she says she...

    1974 Duster Rear Light Bezels

The bezels around my rear tailights are flaking. I found them at Dante's for $375/pr. They appear to be aluminum. Could these be media blasted or sanded and then painted black? I thing that would look better--and be less expensive.

    /6 to V8 questions

I have a 1974 Duster with slant 6, A904 tranny and 7.25 inch rear end. The car runs great and looks great. However, stomping on the accelerator just isn't much fun. So, as a rookie to Mopar, if you had $5000 to add a V8 to this car, how and what should I do? I realize that the tranny and...

    Floor mat supplier

I am looking for floor mats that would fit my 1974 Duster. I've seen some on Elay for 1970-1973 Duster, but the ads indicate that they won't fit the 1974. Did the cars change that much from 1973 to 1974? Anyway, I want a carpeted mat with either Plymouth or Duster logo that fits the car properly.

    duster hood differences?

I am interested in a pair of hood scoops for my 1974 Duster. From what I can ascertain with the search feature, the 70-72 hood is different from the 73-76 hood. Is this correct? I only see hood scoops available for the 1970-72 hood (like at Dales Cuda shop). Anyone make scoops for the 1974...

1974 Duster, /6 with AC. Could someone tell me where this last port (left) on the charcoal cannister goes? It says Carb Bowl. I have a Holley 1945 carb and there's no position left on it to hook anything to.

    Too dumb for service manuals

I purchased the service manual for my 1974 Duster. However, the manual refers to vehicle designations V-L, B-J, R-W, P-D, and C-Y. I can't locate a legend or key to permit me to figure out which one of these my Duster belongs. Any help pointing out my inability to read the manual would be...

How do I delete my AC?

1974 Duster with factor AC. I pulled all the components on engine side of the firewall. Can I simply cap the old pressure lines at the fire wall and run my heater core as it was originally hooked up? Or, should I pull the AC box on the inside too? I just don't want that big POS AC unit on...

    Lowering Duster Question

My 1974 Duster sags a little in the rear compared with the front. I like the lower look and want to match the front to the rear. I read using the search feature that I can lower the front by simply "loosening" the torsion bar. Is the nut shown in the picture the torsion bar? If I lower the...

    Door guard come off?

The family car door guard is hurting my muscle car image. Can this be taken off without destroying the paint? I was able to peel a little off and it looks lie the color is the same beneath. I thought about using a hair dryer to heat the glue holding it on to get it more easily. Anyone done...

    Carburetor identification

Can someone identify this carb on my 1974 Duster? It's leaking pretty bad and I thought I'd replace it. Also, any good place to buy a rebuilt one? I saw them fairly cheap at Rock auto but wasn't sure which one to choose. Thanks.

    1974 Duster Rebuild

Thought I'd start my own place to document my progress. Paint and body are acceptable to me already. So, I started with the interior. Ordered carpet and sent the seats for reupholstering. Not any rust under the seats. I think I did good. I'm going with black vinyl seats. Owner cut the...

    Best shop repair manual?

I'm just starting out here--my first Mopar. A 1974 Duster with 225. I've been perusing the Google to find a set of shop manuals. I'm old school and want paper copies. Any recommendations for a source? Don't really want the Haynes or like--prefer the actually Chrysler shop manuals.
