Odd electrical gremlin. no start, dim dome light (some times) buzzer comes on and off

'72 Dart Custom Sedan. Alright, this one is baffling me and I'm not sure where to start looking. Last Monday, I parked my car after coming home from school. I've had no issues that lead up to this. Tuesday morning, I go out to my car and it wouldn't start. The dome light was on, and...

Anyone try using the thermo-control that's built into some electric fan shrouds?

Went out to my local pick-n-pull and grabbed an electric fan. The one I got came out of a '96 Mercury Mystique. I noticed that it has what appears to be a thermostatic coil built into the shroud on the lower driverside corner. Has anybody tried wiring one of these up to control the fan? I'm...

Anyone know how to remove the auto column shift lever?

This has been bugging me ever since I did a manual valve body conversion and installed a Hurst ProMatic shifter. I tried driving out the roll pin at the lever pivot, but was worried about breaking something else by hammering too hard. Anybody know how to remove it? ('72 dart custom sedan)

    Anyone using a 2-row 22" Champion Rad. ?

So I busted a hole in the factory radiator the other day. I've needed to replace it for a while but now it's absolutely unavoidable. :P I'm looking at Champion Radiators and the site says their 22" 2-row radiator (EC2374) is good up to 375 hp. I would be surprised if I'm much over 200 (but...

Did I get the wrong fuel pump?

1972 Dart Custom Sedan, 318, a904 I went to replace the fuel pump in my dart because the old one gave out but I'm having a hard time finding one. The only pumps the local parts places carry have a straight lever. At first I just figured it was a redesign but after installing it and getting no...

It will start but won't run. [Solved. Wasn't ignition. :( ]

'72 Dart 318, 904, stock ignition Had my car die on the way to work yesterday. I thought I'd run out of gas, so I pushed to a gas station and filled up but now it seems that it's an ignition issue. The car will fire while cranking, but quits when the key is in "run". I checked for power...

Need to get rear quarter patch panels. Where's the best place to get them?

With engine and transmission done, I decided to start on body stuff. Got rust-through in the LH rear quarter and about a 1/4" of bondo. Decided it's be best to just cut it out and replace it. Got two questions: First, my car is a '72 dart custom 4-door. Are the 2-door quarters the same? (I'm...

Dimensions For Speedo gear housing seal?

Anybody know the o-ring size for the speedometer gear housing seal? (The big, outer one) Nobody local has the part and I was hoping I could just get a correctly sized o-ring to do the job short-term.

A-904 oil cooler lines. Which is which?

Just want to double check before cutting any braided line. I think the front-most fitting is the "out" and the rear is the "return". Is that right? Thanks, ~Rev.

m7b cooler orientation. Does it matter?

Got my new cooler yesterday and have been trying to decide how to mount it. Does it matter what direction the in/out are facing? I want to mount it so that the lines come in from the side. Edit: Nevermind. I found on the tru-0cool website that orientation doesn't matter.

Heat-sink trans coolers. Who's got them, and how do you like them?

The more I think about it, the more I feel like I made a mistake by not installing a separate transmission cooler after my rebuild. So looking around online, I'm seeing a lot of options. One option that piqued my interest is these finned heat-sink coolers. Just looking at them, I'd imagine...

a-904. Still leaking after rebuild! :(

Finally got everything buttoned up. Got the shifter in, trans filled, and back on the road. But now I've got a leak at the front of the trans. It's coming from behind the dust shield. Every bushing, seal, and gasket got replaced when I rebuilt. Got a brand-new TC, everything should be...

Anyone know what this wire is that I smoked?

Finally got the new shifter in and the freshly rebuilt trans filled with fluid. Went to start and after cranking a couple times, I saw a bunch of smoke! Pulled the key and ran around to see what happened. One wire that comes from the resistor had totally roasted. Here's a picture of...

I installed a TransGo tf-3 manual valve body kit and took pictures along the way.

After finishing my 904 rebuild, I installed a TransGo tf-3 manual valve body kit. The whole process is really quite simple, but the instructions are kind of convoluted so I decided to take pictures along the way in hope that they might help someone else doing the conversion, or maybe just...

Got in a hurry, ruined my day too.

Got all the gears and clutches back in my 904. Went to install the little front band strut thingie only to discover I put the band in backwards... :banghead: Just wanted to vent my retardation. haha Edit: I discovered this after getting the oil pump back in. Gonna cobble together a...

Front clutch retainer bushing. Flush okay?

Sorry for posting so many questions. I'm elbow deep in the 904 and little things keep popping up that don't have an immediately obvious answer. So I pressed the new front clutch retainer bushing in, but I don't have an appropriately sized spacer to get it down to where the old one was. Would...

    Defective bushing?

So I got the big bushing, front seal, and o-ring replaced in the 904 oil pump housing. I dug through my rebuild kit to find the new smaller output shaft bushing (sorry, I'm sure these aren't the correct names, but I think ya know what I mean). I found it, but it is split? That weird...

    Band adjustment methods?

Okay, I've got the 904 completely torn down and getting ready to rebuild, and do the transgo tf3 MVB conversion. In preparation, I'm reading through the MVB instructions and came across a note on "the best method for band adjustment". I've read of this before but only once and thought it...

    Torque Converter Guidence?

I've decided that since I'm rebuilding my trans and adding the manual VB, I should just bite the bullet and replace the TQ converter as well. I mean, I'm gonna be in there and I'd like to keep the trans in the car for as long as possible after all this is done. haha So I'm looking around and...

Freshen up a 904 in one weekend. Doable?

I'm real tired of my trans leaking like a sieve and its crummy shifts. So I ordered myself a TransGo tf3 full manual valve body kit a week or so ago. I was planning on finding a second 904 to rebuild and modify but I'm wondering if that's even necessary. The main problem is that the Dart...

    More throttle linkage questions.

Alright. So I finally put the edlebrock adapter (1481) but now I'm having kickdown linkage problems. It seems like the threaded rod is too short. In this picture, the rod is as far forward as it will go/adjust: (The spring is just holding it forward so I can take the picture.) I...

    Factory shifter with TransGo tf-3?

I have a feeling that this is a really stupid question, but I can't for the life of me find an answer through searching here or google. So I'm seriously considering a manual valve body. After digging around a bit, it's looking like the TransGo tf-3 has everything I want. The only thing is...

Anybody have the part # for mopar 727 pan gasket?

Recently read that the only fool-proof way to get the pan to not leak is using the beefy gasket from the dealer. I called my local dealer and kinda walked the parts person through her search. She said she found it but I'd like to have the # just to be sure. Anybody got the part number? :)...

Where's the cheapest source for instrument light sockets?

Got tired of my dash lights randomly deciding when they want to work and pulled the cluster this weekend. All 7 sockets have a missing locking tab. Went to auto zone and o'reilleys and checked napa. About 7 bucks a pop. Found them on RA for just under 4 buck each. Anybody know anyplace...

Initial timing set @ 30*. Engine seems happy?

Freshly rebuilt 318, rv cam (Don't know specs of cam) When I first got my new engine running a week or so ago, we just timed it by feel. After a little messing, the idle seems smooth around 570-590 rmp. This is with the timing at ~30*. It will still idle if I back it off, but it's more...

Back of the hood won't go down.

I left the hood off for a couple months with the hinges in the up position. When I put the hood back on a few days ago, the rear of the hood won't come down. Looks like the guys with a tall intake but a stock hood. haha I'm guessing it's because the springs were relaxed for so long that they...

Crazy camber after tie-rod end replacement?

While I was replacing my oil pump, I noticed my tie-rod ends were toast so I replaced them. I installed the new ones as close as I could to the old ones and the tires seem parallel to eachother as best as I can see. There's an alignment shop down the road from my house so I figured it would be...
