    73 Duster -- Father-Son Project

Well, not much has been going on. Found a 97 318 magnum on Craigslist for $100, guy said I could take it off his hands for $25. Though, initially I thought it was a 360, I saw the numbers when I went to go pick it up, but I didn't know how to decipher them, or what they meant. :banghead...

Buying a 360 engine, need advice

Thanks to everyone for all the advice and input. I went ahead and got it. The guy ended up having a cherry picker, so it wasn't too much trouble. Just gotta wait til my Dad comes home this weekend to get it outta my Jeep. What do the casting numbers on the side mean?

Buying a 360 engine, need advice

Thanks for the recommendation of the books, I just wasn't sure which ones were the best. The guy texted me back today and said he'd take $25 for it if I just get it out of his way today. If it's just the block, is it going to be too heavy to pick up with just 2 people?

Buying a 360 engine, need advice

He said "the bottom end had a tap and found another 360 for cheap, took off the heads and sold 'em separately because they were new" My Dad has more experience with engines than I do (though I'm not sure how much exactly). I need to find some literature on rebuilding engines and transmissions...

    73 Duster -- Father-Son Project

Haven't done much with the car. Have been fixing up the garage a little bit and making room for big parts in the attic during the week. You can kinda see what I changed from before and after in the pictures. Started to take apart the front end and drop the k member, but we're gonna have to...

Buying a 360 engine, need advice

Not sure if this is the right place to put this. Came across a 360 block on CL, asking $100 or best offer. He said it has the crank, pistons, and rods still in it. Said it came out of a 98. Supposed to send me pics of it, along with the numbers, and the title of the truck it came out of...

    73 Duster -- Father-Son Project

My Dad bought this 73 Duster a few weeks back, October 27th I think. My Dad had a 75 Duster when he was a little older than me, which played a big part in choosing the Duster. He's a truck driver so he's only home on the weekends, when he's able to get home. I'm in college, so I'll be working...

    Removing surface rust help/question

It does look pretty nasty, but I'm gonna try my best to get all the rust off of it. I did hit it with the sander for a bit and used some naval jelly in some spots and it helped a little bit. Thank y'all for all the replies. Wanted to hit it some more with the sander and a new pad, but it's a...

    Removing surface rust help/question

I've got some surface rust spots in various places that I've started taking care of. It's my first time doing any body work and I'm a bit confused as to how I should start taking the one of the front fenders down to metal. I'm using a da sander with 80 grit and I guess my question is how should...

    K Member Question/ID

Dad bought a 73 Duster a few weeks back for us to work on. Didn't come with a trans or motor. Originally was a 340 car with discs, but this one has drums, guess somebody switched it out with this one. Is this a 68-72 A body I6 k member? My Dad and I are planning on putting a 340 or 360 in the...
