Just thought it would be better for highway driving.Also it slips out is second gear when slowing down. But reading the comments think I will stick with a 4 speed.

When adjusting the linkage can’t seem to get the 1&2 gear linkage out past the reverse linkage ! Any ideas ? Or is it just me.

Have a 1969 Dart Swinger 4 speed. Thinking about putting a 5 speed in. Anyone know what to put in and where to buy one that will fit right in. Anyone ever do this on a 1969 Dart?

Thanks for the info. Hoping it’s an adjustment transmission was rebuilt only 6000 miles on it. Will try some adjusting tomorrow.

Have a 1969 Dart Swinger 340 4 speed hurst shifter slips out of second gear when I let of on it(slowing down). Could this be linkage adjustment ?

Thanks for the info. Not sure what’s going on with it Sunday drove about 100 miles and after sitting over night there was oil on the floor it was coming from the pinion seal. Dryed everything of took it for a short drive it sat over night and no leak !

2:5 TTI exhaust Dynomax super turbo mufflers at 60 turning 2900 rpms it seems like it’s turning more and it’s loud lol.

Thanks for the info. So turning 2600 rpm at 60 mph verses 2900 rpm would probably be better? Speed limit here is 50_60 mph not sure if it’s worth the bother.

Have a 1969 Dart Swinger 340-4speed 11.1 compression hydraulic cam .510 lift 245/60/14 tires 3:55 gears. 2900 rpms at 60 mph mostly highway driving. Would there be much difference in rpms and gas mileage going to 3:23 gears at 60 mph? Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Thanks it did help had the radiator recored it is only a 19” radiator wish I would have went to a 22”. Oh well hindsight.

Beg to differ. Put a 180 thermostat in on the road running 10-15 degrees cooler in traffic running 10 degrees cooler. Anyway it does run cooler.
