probably late to this dance but are those 273 pistons still available?

What happened? There is a great buildup But no delivering... I myself have a 273 and was hoping for more information

Were you ever able to find a less expensive source for the CamCraft D/Dart 273cam shaft? I ask because I have found that comp will grind one for about 200$ all you got to have is the cam specs... this is what they told us

it's has been a few years now and things change now and then. Do you remember the thread about the 273 camshaft comparison? I was wondering if the man ever was able to finish it.... I remember that you had a big interest in the thread also and that you are still active here , that is why I am...

first off thanks everyone for the info. I myself have never even looked at the mechanics of a push button so I am blind right now. whitepunkonnitro. I will keep that in mind . money is always a issue it would be at least 3 wks before I can even commit to that.

is there a way or is there a conversion kit to put the old push button shifter on to a "newer" 727/904 transmission? we have a36 Plymouth and for a bit more room and to clean up the "rod" so too speak we are wanting to try to run a push button shifter on to a 727 and down the line change it out...

From what I'm reading, when it gets right down to it the 273 performers The "best"running the basics............. 3 C's Cam carb and compression As long as I got the 4bbl pistons a a small chamber head(with a littlie work done) And a mech cam under .530 all shound good?

Many thanks for your opinion and input. I got those heads and that manifold on the shelf"didn't think they were Worth a **** really." I'm not sure how many miles are on this engine and I need to see How much taper is in the bores .hence the not liking the .060. Overbore This engine is my work...

The reason why I ask is , I have. Sets of 974s ,051s even 302s and the 920s I am trying to get the most "bang for buck" with my 273. I know the chambers are larger on all of these heads compared to the 920s I can cheat some of the cc's with A thinner head gasket using one of the other...

Some times it is the switch itself in the colum. I had to replace many To get them to work

I got a love hate for the car..... But I could see why someone would do it... got the engine and trans out of a stang on the self but no mopar...... To me not worth 9500 though

At a glance I would say the k member is tweaked. But I don't have enough info

At 16 my first car was a 74 dart 4dr with a slant 6 automatic. 5th car 67 cuda 6th 68 coronet 7th 70 roadrunner 8th 74 duster and now. #12 a 68 dart basket case.

Check out your local cam regrinder and see if they have the specs for these "oldschool" Cams. Not saying give away anything. But I know the man at Camcraft wants A oldschool D/Dart cam for his catalog:prayer:. I am trying to build a "tribute" engine for 68 dart and was thinking about the MP...

One thing I got to say is thank you . Taking the time and doing all of this. This has made me think where I am going with my 273 .

20 years ago I bought one of these for 750 Sold it 3 days later for 800. I was young and dumb then, l should of kept it but that was a life time ago

Maybe some one asked already. Do you have headers? Is the starter getting "hot". Maybe need a heat sheild for the starter. That is what comes to my mind

Iwould think as long as you have the right pedal ratio I would stay with non power I belive. Its 5 to 1 for power and 8 to 1 non power. And I want to say that some Brake pedals have both hole drilled in the already...but I could be wrong.

I might be wrong but don't the 273 pistons come out .020? With the 302. Head wouldn't that cause a issue?

Was thinking about using the .284 .528 soild from MP. All the info I found on the D/dart camshaft seems to be the same except for gross lift. The lob sep is .112 And I belive the overlap is 60 degrees. After checking at the specs, looks like MP copied the cam but changed to just A single...
