Help with idle rpm and carb on 340

Set your initial to around 14deg to start with. Then find what rpm your engine likes to idle at,and set your curb idle screw there. Probobly around 800-900 rpm if all else is ok (in neutral, not in gear). With your Holley have your idle mixture screws at around 1.5 turns out to start with,then...

    Thermoquad Dripping at idle.Help!

FIXED IT!! The air horn gasket was the wrong one. It had the later type on it which didn't seal off the idle feed ports between the air horn and the fuel bowl. Especially on the L/H side. I did put the bushings in the primary shaft too, feels much better. I cant belive I didn't notice it before ha!

    TQ question

If you rebuild the TQ, make sure that you check the air horn gasket fits correctly as there are slight differences in the casting between some models.I recently had this issue. The incorrect gasket I had on there was not completely sealing off the idle feed hole between the air horn and fuel...

    clear coating an aluminum intake

Yep,ditto on the yellow finish. It looks okay for a little while, but if you use the clear coat only on top of bare aluminium,it looks tacky pretty quickly. I know I did it once!

    Thermoquad Dripping at idle.Help!

Can nitrophyl floats be faulty from new? Because all the ones I have are new. I cant see four brand new floats being faulty. Just sayin'! Im thinking maybe because of the wobbly shaft, it could be drawing extra air into the primary that the idle circuit is not 'seeing' then drawing the fuel...

Hey all you TQ gurus! I have a problem which has been driving me mad for weeks. My 850 TQ will not stop dripping from the L/H side booster at idle no matter what I have tried. New needle and seats, swapped from side to side,no luck. Same with the floats. Set the fuel pressure regulator to...
