    69 340 Dart

Heh - years later, sorry - look for Dat Dusty Dart blah blah blah and that will chronicle my build. Along with a few questions, I am sure.

Dat Dusty Dart, a sympathetic rebuild with some enhancements.

OK - I am the second registered owner. I bought this from a long time friend who patiently cultivated a relationship with the original owner for YEARS until he was willing to sell it to him and him only. He's known on Mopar threads as UCUDANT. Anyway, here's a few more pics of what I am starting...

Dat Dusty Dart, a sympathetic rebuild with some enhancements.

I’ll be posting a lot of older content here while I get caught up to the present time. For now, here’s a pic from it’s first night home in Jan 2014. More later.

    Dartin for Divorce

I get to Vegas every once and a while.... we should have lunch the next time, all’s invited. You’re cracking me up as well as being quite inspirational. Our wives could trade stories.... my kiddos are all grown, but your youngins would certainly be well welcomed! These are the reasons I got...

    Dartin for Divorce

Me too... I got my washer out with a combination of a mag-tool and a coat hanger. It took me over 30 minutes. The rubbery bushing is still in there... I was cursing up a storm when a couple of salty sailors walked past and I made them blush. I ended up stuffing a paper towel to block off that...

Thanks, all. Very much appreciate your time and replies. George

Which style of single cup BBP calipers should I use?

Hi all - could I have some coaching: I have the spindles & uppers for the drum to disc conversion on my Dart to the later cars (73+) front disc brakes and initially got some bad brake calipers (Duster style) and would now like to use the 2 pin calipers as found on the Bs and Es. I'm looking at...

    Swinger rarity...

There's a 67 four door /6 Dart that I see fairly routinely here in Rio Rancho. We spoke for a bit one day at a light. Nice guy. I'll drive mine around soon, I hope!

    Passon Performance 5-speed

They come in now at $5,300. Plus shipping. And for me I had to source a bolt-in Hurst shift lever. I didn't feel like drilling two holes into my original slip in. Regardless of the extra expenses, I'm happy i waited and got one.

    Well It Finally Happened

Great write-up. Just finished with the whole thread. Very helpful as I know I want a stroker under the hood, just not sure how much motor I want to start with: crate, long block, short... get a kit for my 340. I enjoyed your build, thanks for sharing!

    Passon Performance 5-speed

I don't recall how long I have been on the list - For the first list, it was years ago, then a few months back Jamie scrubbed the list of who really wanted one vs tire kickers.

    Passon Performance 5-speed

Here's an update for y'all: Jamie called me last week - said my number came up (# 107) so I paid for it. Shipping, fully insured with delivery to my garage door was extra. Looks like things are truly rolling along now. Now it's time to start looking for a block to build. My numbers engine and...

    5 Speed Gear ratio advice?

Thank you for all this info, I’ll chew it over for some time. Very kind of you to hammer it all out.

    Aluminum Bell Housing

Searching around on-line, I see some small block bellhousings described as 9.5 inch and some others (they seem to be later versions) as 10.5 inch. Are there any concerns with fitment issues? Want to make sure it will work on my Dart. Thanks again - George

    Aluminum Bell Housing

I’m looking at an aluminum bell housing for my Dart. I figured it would go well with one of Jamie’s 5 speeds (when I eventually get one) and save a few more pounds on the car. What is the weight difference between the two bell housings, and are there any downsides to having an aluminum one? It...

    5 Speed Gear ratio advice?

Thank you all for that technical class. It was perfectly timed as I was about to post a very similar question. I’m standing in line for a 855 5 speed. Before that I was looking at a 3:55 gear, but with an extra gear I can go lower, so I want to make a very informed decision - this thread will...

    Green Bearings v OEM

Hi all, I am going to replace my rear axles as a part of converting my car to the BBP wheels. Dr Diff sells his with the Green installed. Some notes on his site said that many of the issues with the Green bearing came from the "1st generation" of those bearings. 2 gen are much better... I...

Trivial discussion: '67-'69 Barracuda: Fastback vs. Notchback- your opinion?

It's the notch for me, it seems more stylized, like more time spent with the shape and lines than the fastback. Don't get me wrong, I dig 'em both.

Lost another rock legend....R.I.P. Tom Petty

Just two Wiburys left now. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were a staple in my car's cassette player during high school. I'm not sure I ever heard anything negative about him... What a loss. Rest In Peace Tom.

69 Dart Swinger, hood pins, Yes or No?

I've never liked hood pins - I view them as an opportunity to accidentally scuff the paint. Good luck with the repair - grill make it ok?

Caliper parts, bits and pieces - Questions

Thank you sir! We we're scratching our heads over those rubber bands for a bit. Ended up shooting them at one another, then I picked them for "just in case". As I was tightening down the bolts for the hold downs, those "little" clips twisted with the last turn of the bolt and bent a bit - so I...

Caliper parts, bits and pieces - Questions

OK folks, I am stumped! With my calipers, each one came with the bits and pieces seen in the picture. Each caliper had two of these rubber band looking things (highlighted in yellow)... What on God's green earth are they for?? :BangHead: Also the small clips that go on the top and bottom to...
