66dartman is correct. The only time Studebaker used another company for engines was in 1965-66. They used a McKinnon engine for the last two years of production in the Hamilton, Ontario plant. This was after they shut down South Bend production.

I have a 63 Signet with slant six and automatic. I just love to drive this car! I can cruise at or above 70 on the highway. Always get thumbs up when I drive and people at a local cruise in just love the car. Good luck with your plans.

If it has the chrome piece under and covering the hood lip, I can use that!!!

Yup, my 63 slant wouldn't run right until we took out the distributor and readjusted the plate underneath as posted in OldmanRick's photo. Patience is the key word when doing this operation.

Go to a non chain shop where the guys are real mechanics! I never trust the big chain type stores. They are looking to make sales!!! (Just my .02 cents worth!)

I used a Grant Walnut steering wheel for my 81 Imperial w/the adapter, no problem. Purchased a Superior wooden wheel on ebay for my 63 Valiant and bought a Grant adapter, again--no problem.

bembry, Learned to drive on a 63 Galaxie 2 door sports hardtop that my Dad bought new. I had a four door Galaxie as a daily driver back in the day. Those are really nice, big comfortable cars.

Yup: Regret the following-- 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus and 1981 Imperial. Had no choice, both were daily drivers that needed too much $$$$$$$$$$$$!

I have a 63 2 door. I just checked google images and the wagon bumper looks to be the same as mine. Hope this helps.
