It did feel a bit sluggish on the get go. I am going to fix the rear suspension and get the manual valve body next. I will get slicks set up for next spring. Any other ideas on what is off with this combo? I forgot, was running 87octane...last min track idea and had already filled up.

Got it running. It was actually incorrect valve adjusting. Just glad nothing got messed up. Guess I'll chalk that up to inexperience. Now I know what is meant by zero lash...thanks for all the help! Still have a few things to iron out but here is a video of it running...

A bit more information, I turned the crank to tdc. Saw where the rotor points and set #1 terminal there as a start point.

So I just finished installing a new cam and heads in my 383. I am having a he'll of a time getting the initial timing setup. It turn over and sounds like it wants to start, but nothing. I tried retarding and advance all that seems to do is backfire through the carb. I'm at a loss.

Has anyone tried installing a new challenger automatic in a duster or other A body? I like the idea of a more cruise friendly setup. I looked at the gear vendor od but if a trans swap is possible it seems cheaper. Used 5 speed automatic is $1500+/-. I know a new bell housing is needed but what...

Does anyone know the deck clearance of a 383b block? Casting number is 2468130 7. Reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of a head swap down the line and trying to figure specs. Current it still has flat top pistons. Also current heads are 346s.

It has a cam, intake, headers and 3.55 suregrip. As far as I know it still has the stock converter, but I am planning on upgrading to a 2800 stall. Oh and I just installed full msd ignition.

Also I currently have a manual choke, should I look at a electric choke? If so what do I have to do for wiring?

I am running a 383 with a mild purple cam (not sure of the specs) and a Holley 600 double pumper. I keep reading about crab spacers, but don't know it I will benefit from one. What would I gain? And which type is best for me(street use) square, 4 hole or tapered?

Problem was buying a volt meter and not an ammeter. Guess I should stop ordering parts when drinking!
