    Choke Horn Removal

Assuming this a 2bbl. I don't know about forced induction but, NA these usually are worth some power on the dyno. When a holley 2bbl. is tested on my flowbench with an aircleaner housing and the flow hat they will pick up some cfm. Most of the time you will have to jet up a little with this...

    Intake Fitment

Find an assistant to help you. On the next cold start when the engine starts acting up try moving the choke blade opening more or less to see if the pull off setting is what the engine wants. Also check the pull off to make sure it’s not leaking. And or if the choke is opening too fast or slow...

    Eric's cam challenge

Interesting. I haven't heard of this. Wonder why they didn't just measure the @ .050" specs? Unless this comes from a time back before it was common to do so. Maybe this was used as a way to compare data from old catalogs or something? It seems odd to provide a formula to calculate the @ .050"...

    Lockup to non-lockup question(s)

Is the pilot for the 68 or newer larger or smaller in the crank? I will search it but is there a thread on this that you can point me to? Sorry to anyone if this is hijacking this thread.

    Lockup to non-lockup question(s)

Is there a 904 with lockup option? Typically how many rpms would lock up drop? If this is an option , is this a bolt in (no crossmember/ driveshaft mods) option? Thank you

TTI Header “ break in “ thoughts

I would contact the header and or the coating company and follow their recommendations. Ultimately they are probably looking for a certain temperature and cure time. Might be better to take them to a powder coating place that has an oven big enough for headers so the time and temperature can be...

    Eric's cam challenge

Sounds like you will have an opportunity to prove that theory in his next challenge. I will pay your hundred dollar entry fee and we'll find out if you can make the top ten.

    checking rear end housing straightness

A rear end housing that has the hubs attached to the housing. If you break an axle the wheel stays attached to the rear end housing. So you don't end up on your top. They are legal to use in the class you are running and what everyone else is using. Full Floaters vs. Flanged Axles

    checking rear end housing straightness

Lay two wheels or wheels with tires flat on the floor, at the approximate width if the rear end. Place the rearend (with the axles in it and wheels and tires bolted on) into the wheels on the floor. This will keep the rear end from rolling around. You will need an assistant to string a...

    checking rear end housing straightness

Is the rear end in the car? Is the rear end locked? If you answer these two questions I can explain which method to use to check the rear end for straightness.

    Why Is It?

That's funny and true. We are all always one year on the other side of that line that seperates us from stupid people and know-it-alls no matter how old we are.

Thrust issues with AFR gauge and Brawler carb

Here are a few thoughts and suggestions that may or may not help. I'm assuming the o2 reads normal except at wide open throttle. 1. Try another carb and see if you get the same results. 2. Move the sensor to the other side of the motor to see if it reads the same. Fuel distribution is not...

    Slow build 71 Scamp 440

You can pressure test that. Carefully use low air pressure to pressurize the crankcase while an assistant sprays soapy water over the suspect area. Check it with the intake and valve covers on. Becareful not to overpressurize the crankcase. It doesn't take much to find a leak. You can check your...

Valve seals tore on break in

It could be something else but whenever I have seen this it was from the retainer contacting the seal. One time I saw a seal that didn't get installed correctly (all the way down on the guide) which then caused the retainer to contact the seal and chew it up. I would check the retainer to guide...

    Milling an intake manifold.

If you have your intake cut, be sure to check the gap between the block and the ends of the manifold. Sometimes the manifold ends have to be cut down also so they don't butt and hold the manifold away from the head. Had this happen just this week on a motor that I was supposed to dyno. Big...

    Using oil issue

Just one of many videos on the subject. I used to work at a boat shop and at the end of the boating season we would fog the motors as a part of the preparation for storage over the winter. It is the process of spraying storage or fogging oil either through the intake or sparkplug holes or both...

    Using oil issue

It's possible that the rings have stuck from the motor sitting that long. When we dyno restoration motors we encourage the customer to let us fog the motor for them when we are done dynoing.

    Using oil issue

Not saying that a compression test and a leak down shouldn't be done but let me relate what happened to a customer last summer. Customer bought a new 602 crate from us and had us dyno it. Motor dynoed fine and made slightly above average power for a 602 crate. He put the motor in his race car...

    (2)450 DP's vs (2)750 DP's

10-4. I love a good mystery. Waiting for the next clue to see how you solve this.

    (2)450 DP's vs (2)750 DP's

Have you tried more main jet as a test to see if the area that you suspect is too lean really wants more fuel? I'm not saying this will be your permanent fix but it might help determine what the motor wants first, then you can come up with a strategy to fix it.

    (2)450 DP's vs (2)750 DP's

Might try both changes but one at a time. I would do mains first.
  23. 92b

    (2)450 DP's vs (2)750 DP's

As a test, try more main jet It's simple to do. See how this affects the driveabilty first then look at your numbers. It seems the changes you're making are not changing the a/f ratio much in the area you notice the problem. Take a bigger swing and try to move the a/f a whole number just to see...

    489 R&P, good choice?

It's not really as simple as the lowest rpm. Much of the time is spent pedaling the car through the middle of the corner and exit depending on how slick the track gets. Your looking more for the rpm when you can get the pedal all the way down. You need to be in the power range of the motor when...

this damn car is freaking killing me.

I have some engine builders who pressure check them now before they send them to the dyno. This has cut down the number of leaks we have at the dyno. More time dynoing and less time fixing leaks.

this damn car is freaking killing me.

We find a lot of leaks at the dyno with a little air pressure in the crankcase and some soapy water.

Placement of big round felt pad on crank behind timing cover

I think what Rusty is politely trying to say is that he doesn't have an answer to your question "Is there some mopar document / diagram / manual page *anywhere* that actually shows / describes this felt pad?".

Does This Debunk the "Coolant Can Flow Through the Radiator Too Fast" Idea???

Let me say up front I don't know anything about prostock racing. I do know they have engines that produce a lot of horsepower. I also know that the heat output of an engine is directly related to the horse power output. It would stand to reason then that they must have huge radiators and fans to...

Does This Debunk the "Coolant Can Flow Through the Radiator Too Fast" Idea???

This part , I agree with with. Don't let his disrespectful replies cloud your judgment about what he says, right or wrong, about the subject. Some people feel the way to elevate themselves is to put others down.
