    Team Starfish Racing Garage

Pictures of the garage and vintage road race prepped 1966 Barracuda Formula S of Team Starfish Racing. This car was restored from 1992-1994 to international FIA Sporting Regulations (FIA #535) as a Group 3 Grand Touring (GT) class car, for racing in FIA sanctioned endurance race events (think 12...

    1966 Barracuda Grille restoration

Does anybody know of somebody that does grille restoration? I have a pair of grilles on my 66 Barracuda that could use a good rechroming, as one side has some pitting starting to show. Thanks!

racing roll cage fabricator northern california

Not really relevant as it was some 20 years ago. The price has probably gone up a bit by now..... It was about $800-1000 then, as I recall. That was for a welded in SCCA vintage approved roll bar, with the cross brace removable so the rear seat could be used. (It has since been welded in place...

Try Magnum Force: 1436 White Oaks Rd # 7, Campbell, CA 95008 Phone: 408-559-6633 I had them put a roll bar into my 66 Barracuda many years ago and they did a great job.

    Brake fluid for M/C

I have a road race car that can also be used on the street occasionally, and I use Motul 600, a type 4 fluid, with a very high boiling point. There are issues with DOT 5 (silicone), and if used the entire system must be flushed first, as it is not compatible with either DOT 3 or DOT 4.

    Windows 10

I've upgraded my wife's computer from Windows 7 to 10, and have really had no issues. If anything, it seems to load faster than before. It still has the Windows 7 type start-up page. I have kept MY Windows 7 computer on 7 though, at least for now!

    Value of 8.75 center section?

I want to sell it as a complete package, not parted out..... I put an ad on Craigslist today for $650, which leaves me wiggle room.... Thanks again! Fishracer66

    Value of 8.75 center section?

Thanks! That is a starting point at least..... I did find out that it has the Dana clutch type (22685x) sure grip unit in it. I had three rear ends put together (3.55, 3.91, and 4.30), and ended up with 3.91 as the best "over-all" ratio for what I do. The other two are Auburn cone...

    Value of 8.75 center section?

I have decided to stick my 8.75 (489 case, with Suregrip) 4.30 geared center section on Craigslist so I can put some money into upgrading my Barracuda's brakes. Anybody have an idea of a good starting asking price for this? The gearset is essentially new, (but been sitting in a cabinet for a few...

Ever let someone else Drive your car????

Mine is a road race car, and yes, I have let other road race car drivers run the car. Great feedback, as I am rather used to the way it handles, and a second/third opinion is always good!

    It's "Sideview Monday"!!

I had a chance to get my newly "put back together" road race '66 Barracuda out to a local car show on Saturday after a month long engine pull project to replace a leaky rear main seal. No oil leaks, (hooray!), but several of the sparkplug wires were not properly pushed all the way down into...

    Distributor repair

I don't think the one with the broken tach drive is going to be that easy. The tang holder came out when I removed the cable. Looks like something sheared way inside the distributor. What is interesting about this is that both of these broken distributors are virtually brand new. One was my...

    Engine back in car!

So far, only a few miles driving around the neighborhood scaring the neighbors. This is a race car so it doesn't see much street action, except to drive to very close by car shows. It gets miserable mileage, (5 mpg on the race track), and uses $9.50 a gallon 110 leaded fuel....... This car...

    Distributor repair

These aren't old distributors, they are the recent Mopar Performance units. In fact, both of them are practically brand new. Maybe made by Prestolite?

    Distributor repair

I have a couple of the MP mechanical tach drive electronic distys (PN 4120701) that need repair. One has something wrong with the tach drive mechanism (tach drive rotates freely), and the other has a problem with the mechanical advance mechanism. (doesn't seem to advance correctly). I just put...

    Engine back in car!

BTW, the seal I used was sold by Dvorak down in FL. It was $39, and was more expensive than the standard FelPro part. The 4 piece "kit" might be an issue, but I did use a tiny dab of copper RTV at the ends of the seal top and bottom halves, and between the seal and the two side pieces. BTW...

    Engine back in car!

"Hey, what does that tube that travel across the valve covers do? Equalize the pressure on both sides of the block? " The tube that connects both valve covers together is a breather system, and it ventilates the block. I put together a video on the engine in the car about a year or so ago...

    Engine back in car!

Pretty much finished getting the engine back in the old '66 fish vintage road racer on Friday, after the ordeal of replacing the leaky rear main seal. Also found a small crack in the oil pan, which is now tig welded back together again. What a bear, but hopefully worth it in the end. If the...

    Tapping block for remote filter

Can anybody provide guidance on the block tapping conversion to use the two 3/8 NPT fittings for a remote filter/cooler install on a MP 340 small block? The two holes are so close to the edge of the filter lip there is no way that neither a straight nor a R/A AN-8 adapter will work without some...

340 rear main choices- race motor

New MP block, with an old forged crank. I did not build the motor, it was built by a guy that was a Mopar engine expert here in the PNW. He has since passed..... My assumption is that he did everything right. The pan is an 7 qt aluminum Charlie's unit, and does not use gaskets. It uses a...

340 rear main choices- race motor

No, there is no oil on the breathers at all. I did not put any oil on them, figuring that the engine would do that itself, but they are still clean, inside and out. I have been road racing this car for 20 years now, and never had this issue before this last build with the MP 4 bolt main...

340 rear main choices- race motor

I have both valve covers ventilated into a cross over pipe with a couple of breathers on it. There is almost no air coming out of those vents, so I don't think it is a pressure issue. My engine builder was concerned that I am using an old crank (that used the rope) in a new block (that uses the...

340 rear main choices- race motor

My Barracuda vintage race engine (7000 RPM 340 T/A block ) has a leaky rear main seal, so I have it on the engine stand, pan removed and ready to replace. The problem is, what to replace it with? Timkin 5414 from Summit $44.97 (the most expensive, maybe) Felpro BS 40245 from Summit...

    SB rear seal leak question

OK, Small Blockers, maybe somebody here has a solution for me! A while ago I had a race 340 built for my Barracuda out of the modern 4 bolt main "Resto 340" MP block, and an early style forged crank. My builder told me that the early and later Mopar small blocks and cranks used different...
