I believe that they were intended for B-bodies to move the shifter rearward for installation of the Hurst Super Shifter and its short shifter handle. Floor cutting I believe was also required.

Interesting... It's a little hard to read the scans that you posted. Is the scallop at the 6:00 position on the engine side of the flywheel in my picture indicate that it is for a exterior balance engine such as the 440 heavy rod engines were?

Mine is a 10.5" 130 tooth wheel.

Here is a couple shots that may help you ID the 69 340 valve covers. I took these pictures of the original 9K mile 340 engine just before I reinstalled it back in the GTS in 2016. The original owner had removed from the car back in 1973 and stored on a dolly under his work bench for 43 years.
