Thanks Mate. Nice set up you've got there.

Cool thanks. Is that a small block ?

    Methanol jetting

Thanks Mate. The hole in the metering block is what was done years ago so you can reuse your old Holley jets without going to buy a whole bunch of bigger methanol jets. When I ran injection on meth I used to restrict fuel at idle to build heat, so with a carb I don't see why I can't intoduce air...

    Methanol jetting

Has anybody run a Methanol carb here. NA Carb very lite car. I just got a BLP 750 from a work mate which come off a speedway car SBC running at around 7,000 has 144 jets front and rear AND power valves. Seems mega rich to me?

Shaved heads and head gasket thickness.

Well I was just thinking last night about talking to my best mate Jim about getting him to take a bit off the top with his mill. I actually measured the piston above the deck yesterday with my dial indicator at .063" Yep us Aussie's have some killer wild life.

Shaved heads and head gasket thickness.

Maybe a closed chamber is an exaggeration lol!

Shaved heads and head gasket thickness.

Not piston to valve that's potentially the problem, more the piston crown to head clearance that is of interest.

Shaved heads and head gasket thickness.

Thanks for your thoughts. Car runs on methanol so fuel isn't an issue. Gaskets shown are copper from a few years ago but photo shows pistons Gasket I used last night to check ckearances is a used FP8553

Shaved heads and head gasket thickness.

Hello all. I've come across some "J".heads from a 1970's C/Gas car. They've been shaved enough to consider them closed chamber heads now. I have KB pistons with small domes that protude a bee's dick above the deck. With a second hand FelPro head gasket and some plasticine on the piston I can...

What sort of weather do you race at

Hello. Just thinking about air density. It's generally between 95 and 105 f and very dry here when we go racing. What sort of weather do you race in? Have you ever gone from this type of weather to cool weather without changing your setup and if so what difference did you see in performance?

    Disappointed with my engine

Just a final post script to all this. I have picked up a set of ported iron heads from a late 1970's early 1980's Gas class car that ran 10.20's at 2400lbs. Just have to clean 'em up and buy a set of valve springs and see what difference that makes. Wish me luck.

What gives here with Holley? According to the size chart the only difference between the 870 and the 750 is a sixteenth in the back venturi the 750's way ?? Unless I misunderstood the chart?

I'll look them up but I think the bore is bigger on the 870. Cheers

    Disappointed with my engine

Like I said Mate it's called a discussion. I'm not talking fancy dyno results I'm talking real world outcomes and as I said there is zero similarity between a 14 or 1500 lb FED and your door car. The scoop isn't sealed so it doesn't offer anything or very little on the way of ram air. You come...

Okay Mr Rusty RR what was your input? Was it you that said Mopar heads were the pick of the bunch way back when ? Ha ha ha what a joke. Have you ever looked at a Ford Cleveland from 1971 - 86. I don't think you guys had 302 C in the US did you? Maybe you should have said that they have a higher...

    Disappointed with my engine

Yes seat time is a big issue. My local track is now closed so it's a 5 hour trip each way to my closest track. Travelling up Friday, accomadation friday night, run Saturday, accommodation Saturday night, tow home Sunday, severely limits the number of times I can run each year.

    Disappointed with my engine

Well Mate it's called discussion, I listen to you and then I respond. I did ask for further info on your thinking about the vents becoming pressurized causing the fuel to be forced through the carb but no reply. If there had been I would have taken it on board especially considering ny past...

    Disappointed with my engine

Thanks for your input. A Slingshot is nothing like your heavy door cars to run. Time and tine again it's been shown headers make no difference to ET over Zoomies. For a car that's just for fun like mine, converter selection isn't as critical as it is with your heavy tin tops - we just don't have...

    Disappointed with my engine

Tell me more about this pressurizing the fuel bowls/vents idea. Years ago we ran one of those tall econo dragster scoops sealed tight and picked up 3 tenths and 6 mph (1/4 mile back then). We didn't make any change to the carb.
